I went to the derm today because I had a mole on my leg that looked bad. She said it looked like melanoma so she took it off to biopsy it. This dr had no beside manner and now I am so scared! It will be 10-14 days before I know anything. I am freaking out. I am 28 years old! What if I have cancer?!? How can I tell if it was caught early? If it were advanced would I have any other symptoms? Thanks in advance

I never like it when a Dr has no beside manner :(

I remember this feeling when they found mine. I went to the derm for something else and she saw it on my ear! I had no idea!
The waiting is the worst part. Try not to worry (I know, easier said then done) but there is nothing you can do until the report comes back. I would read on line as much as you possibly can. Google it, lots of info.

Once the biopsy comes back depending on what it is, a plan will be put in place for you. If you realy don't like this derm, find another one.

Then go for annual skin checkups regularly! No matter your age, it's always a good idea. Kep me posted. I hope this helped you.

First of all I would suggest you wait until you have the results and then do your research. Don't panic and do not read everything you can on it - it will only fuel your fear.
One suggestion I do have is to google "melanoma patients information", just like that. You will probably have a lot of additional information come up... go with that. The first result should be very helpful. :)
