I've been on imdur for over a month now..well monday I started feeling really bad..I was dizzy lightheaded felt like I was going to pass out..we went to my mom and dads to help them close down there pool.and I told my mom I just don't feel right I don't feel good she said let me check your blood sugar and I've never had a problem with it before but I went ahead and got her to check it and it was 57 and she said that is to low and gave me some orange juice.she checked again alittle later and it was 90..my dad has type two diabetes..I looked on the net and I don't see any where that imdur can effective this but I was wondering if anyone has had this to happen with this meds or if it could cause it to happen or if I'm starting to have other health problems thanks for all your replys

truthseeker... two questions and some recommendations. One have you checked your blood pressure with these feelings?? It almost sounds like maybe your blood pressure is a little low. This medication can lower your blood pressure, so i would keep a close record of it. You can get the blood pressure cuffs at the store, might be worth your investment. Secondly have you had regular blood tests done like had your thyroid checked? The low blood sugar could definately cause your symptoms, however dizziness and fatigue and that sense of not feeling right (usually from a lower blood pressure) is also very common side affects from this drug. If all else checks out well, your body may just need some more time to adjust to this medication or maybe its not the right medication for you.

mnmnmnmn.....thanks for the reply...I have a blood pressure cuff..I did check it during that time because I was thinking the same thing and it was 130 over 78..I had my thyroid checked when I started having all this pain in my chest and it was good..so I don't know what is going on...if I start feeling like that again I'll go to the dr..thanks for your help:) :)

Nitrates can drop your BP precipitously and it can causwe dizziness or fainting because it opens a lote of your blood vessels to allow for more bloodflow.

If your blood sugar falls low, a lot of the same symptoms can occur.

I guess if they happen TOGETHER, things can get pretty dicey.

A BG reading of 50 is DEFINITELY a hypoglycemic one.

Why not borrow your mom's tester and get a couple readings first thing in the morning before eating anything.

I don't think the nitrite has anything to do with the hypoglycemia, nor any relationship to a diabetic family. I remember that you have the "angina" that they cannot confirm with the nuclear stress test. Does the Imdur prevent the pain. Do you think you could get the same effect with a smaller dose?

Lenin...thanks so much for the reply...Yes the Imdur helps to prevent the pain....a lower dose might help...I will go to my moms tomorrow morning and check my blood sugar to see what it is..I go back to the heart dr in Nov I'll see what he says about lowering the dose to see what it does..
