agitate 10-10-2006, 03:12 PM Just searching around the boards and wondering if there were any fresh comments regarding Benfotiamine for neuropathy. Thanks, Maureen thylantyr 10-13-2006, 12:03 AM The interesting thing about dietary supplements is; 1. The manufacturers or vendors selling them make positive claims. 2. The scientific community says there is no evidence that all these dietary supplements work. The reality is that everyone reacts different to drugs and you don't know unless you try. For example, I spent 2 months researching to find a diet pill regiment for someone I know to treat; a. lower blood sugar b. control cholesterol levels c. reduce neuropathy pain I made a cocktail of pills with a strict schedule for treatment. Results? After the first day popping the pills, the blood sugars dropped. After two week into this regiment, I took the person off the statin drugs and monitor the cholesterol levels, and the person has reduce their insulin consumption by a wide margin. Three times in two weeks, the blood sugars went as low as 40 and the person had to eat candy because the diet pill cocktail really works. What makes me agry is. Doctors won't suggest alternative treatments and instead, they want you to take harsh meds or just ignore patients. If I can help my friend with just doing some homework, buying some diet pills and have results like this, why can't the docs do the same thing?? Bottom line. I don't think any *one* pill will do the trick, but a nice cocktail of many pills tailored to treat a specific illness might show results. You have to make your own custom regiment, do some homework and try it out. It's too early in the treatment to make a claim on whether the cocktails help with reversing neuropathy pain. :jester: agitate 10-13-2006, 03:46 PM Thanks for your answer, I agree with you completely, especially this part: What makes me agry is. Doctors won't suggest alternative treatments and instead, they want you to take harsh meds or just ignore patients. My doctor routinely tells me "sure take the supplements they won't do anything anyway..." I know taking high amounts (well beyond RDA) of B vitamins has helped me greatly and there's a huge difference between when I do and don't take them. I am right now trying to get a vitamin/supplement routine going for myself regarding high blood sugar and neuropathy. High doses of methyl B12 have definately helped with the neuropathy pain and I'll probably try benfotiamine next. Would you mind sharing what you suggested to your friend for neuropathy and lowering blood sugar? Suggestions from people on these boards has helped me greatly in my personal research. Thanks so very much! |
