Hello

My husband was diagnosed with dissecting cellulitis of the scalp a few weeks ago. I was wondering if this condition is contagious? The doctor gave a sketchy answer and I would like to be sure. He works out with my son and they both place their heads on the same sweaty surface, so I was worried about him to. Any information would be appreciated.

It's not supposed to be contagious (because the infection is in the lower layers of the skin, not the epidermis [top layer]). That being said, I still wouldn't want to come in contact with it, just incase one became an open sore and the infection leaked out. Hope this helps! :)

bad news folks. i was diagnosed at 18 and now i am 25. 6 surgerys, countless doctor's appointments, meds. and dermatologists i am still dealing with the same problem except it gets worse day by day.

good luck.

my head feels like it was grazed by the top of a shot gun bullet.

oh and it hasnt shown that ita contaious.

this disease has ****ed up my whole life. i bleed spontaniously, cant sleep because it hurts so bad, my head looks like a battle field.

and its incurable.

if yr son breaks out its something else. get several opinions i got 6.

doctors are just people who went to school for a long time. i was mis-diagnosed, falsely treated, ect. ect.

esp. dermatologists. do yr own research a message board is a good start.
and youll be lucky if your husband dosent kill himself.
