I have a problem with my diet. I am trying to stick to my diet but i am gaining weight anyway. Everyone tells me I can cheat a little bit and have some sweets. The problem is once I have a little bit, I cannot stop. My family does not have diabetes2 and they buy sweets for themselves. They try to fix dinners that I can eat. My son fixes the dinners so I will not cook foods that are to high in carbohydrates and to low in protein. Still I am putting on weight.
The sweets that they buy for themselves are to tempting for me. Help Me!

porterville,

To me as a diabetic it was more a lesson to learn self-control, limited portion size and foods that have a negative impact on your sugar levels.

If you and your family sit down to a meal of grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, veggies and buttered bread - have the grilled chicken and veggies BUT skip the potatoes and buttered bread. I know it's hard to learn to control yourself but think of after the meal when you will be feeling ok instead of out of sorts because you ate things a diabetic shouldn't eat.

Another good idea is for the whole family to learn the needs of a diabetic so they will be able to help you along the way.

Good Luck!
PollyAnn
