cmsaint 10-13-2006, 11:47 AM I suffer from Fibro and I've read that you can get ches pains as a result. Well lastnight I got a real sharp chest pain on the left side that went through my back   ! It scared the crap out of me and I almost went to the ER but it subsided after a few minutes.
I got to looking it up on the internet and came across, Costochondritis. It described what I felt to a T! It also says it's linked to Fibro.
Anyone else ever get this?
cmsaint 10-13-2006, 11:49 AM Oops sorry for the typo in my title!;)
meeee1974 10-13-2006, 01:37 PM Hi look who has another similar symptom!!! Yep I have chest pains! Been to ER, cardiologist, had an event monitor... the whole shebang. Noncardiac related pain. WHEW! i was relieved but I still have the pains. I have sharp chest pains, dull chest aches, back aches... Costochondritis or chronic myofascial pain or the fibro. Who really knows. does it hurt when you press on your chest? That also could let you know it may not be your heart.
You should still go check it out to be on the safe side. My thoughts... Always err on the side of caution. Take care.

Jenetti 10-13-2006, 04:30 PM oh yea, thats one of my strongest symptom, i usually push on it as well to see if its that or if it might be my heart. ive even been to the ER several times with it, cause even if its not my heart, that pain can be pretty severe.
meeee1974 10-15-2006, 10:58 AM Doesn't it worry anyone though that if it really were something serious going on one day that we'd write it off as fibro and miss it? I wonder about that all the time. How are we supposed to really know the difference if the pain is heart-attack like? We can't keep running to the ER all the time you know??? Jusst wondering out loud...
teacher2be 10-16-2006, 06:22 PM cmsaint that is so strange i am 28 years old and also have gad, ocd, ibs, gerd, and allergies too. i am glad to know that i am not the only one out there that has all these symptoms, too. i also have fibromyalgia which i don't wish on anyone. good luck to you.
tiff-cher 10-20-2006, 05:19 PM I GET CHEST PAINS AND IT FEELS LIKE I HAVE A RUBBER BAND ALL THE WAY AROUND MY BODY. THE PRESSURE GETS PRETTY BAD BUT IT SUBSIDES AFTER A WHILE.. IS THAT THE KIND OF PAIN YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT? I ALSO HAVE PAINS THAT SHOOT UP THE SIDES OF MY NECK, I WONDER SOMETIMES IF I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE ARTERIES IN MY NECK OR IF THEY ARE FIBRO PAINS!!??!!??

Glojer 10-20-2006, 06:02 PM I get that sharp pain that goes clear through to the back but mine is more in the center of my chest (not left side). Had it last Fri. before my rhuemie appt. and told him about it he said it is referred pain from the scapula (muscle under your shoulder blade) being so tight and gave me exercises to do to loosen it up. He said the tight scapula can also cause neck pain and headaches in the back of your head.
I don't know if he is right or not, but I thought I would pass the info along.

mzkels 10-22-2006, 11:15 PM hey there i am a fibromyalgia sufferer, and yes i suffer from chest pains. i went to A&E for them and had all the tests done and they pretty much told me that it was all in my head because it was a non-cardio problem and sent me back to the GP and suggested that i Be put on some anti-depressant medication.it's so crazy!! so i went back to the doctor and they told me all it sounded like was costochondritis, which was great because i knew that it wasn't all in my head!! i can really sympathise with the pain you're experiening!
good luck!:)
MOMOFBOYZ 10-23-2006, 02:28 PM Hi there! I just wanted to add something. I was hospitalized Aug 4th and 5th due to falling down dizziness and chest pains. Well they felt it wasn;t my heart. But was still referred to a cardiologist. He determines with ultrasound that I have MVO. It isn't serious. And apparently some people have w/o symptoms. But some do. I am on a beta blocker whcich helped MOST of the chest pain. ANd uncalled for panic attacks. A note though, when my fibro flares bad I still get some chest pain.
You need to see a cardiologist for a 24 hour holter to make sure. Any chest pain could be dangerous.
Thanks Deena
