View Full Version : First sinus infection since being on Protonix

Hi all,

I've been on Protonix for about 7 months now and have just come down with my first sinus infection since about February of this year. Fall is usually a bad sinus season for me anyway and I was hoping to avoid an infection now that we finally figured out that GERD was the source of my sinus problems. Admittedly, I was on vacation all last week and my eating habits were pretty bad (who can resist fried clams while in Maine? ;) ), so I think that is probably what has set this off.

My question is this: Is it going to be possible to get rid of this infection by being a good girl on diet and other lifestyle changes (not going to bed too early and eating a small dinner, etc)? Usually, when I get these infections, they will not go away on their own and the only thing that would help is a course of antibiotics and steriods. I am going to call my ENT tomorrow to ask him, but the problem is that he is 3+ hours away, so if he wants to see me, that's a day down the tubes.

Does anyone have any tips for possibly getting rid of this on my own?

The best thing that I have used for sinus problems is a sinus irrigator---the one I use is a Grossan Hydro Pulse. I bought mine online but it really works -- it cost about $100. But, it only takes about 6 minutes to irrigate your sinus cavities.

I have been using it several years now --of course only when needed and when the season is here!!
