Hiya tiff-cher........

I was just recently dx'd with FM, by my rheumy.

I'm not how sure this is but i read somewhere that either one can dx FM, but read also that it's best to come from a neuro.......don't know why.

My neurologist sent me to a rheumy for dx about 5 yrs ago. I just recently had to see a rheumy again and found that she runs the fibro clinic. I think because it is considered a kind of autoimmune disorder rheumy's typically follow it and might be a bit more understanding. But I will say that my neurologist is very well informed on fibro but I think that it's more to make sure other med problems aren't put in that catagory since so many mimic fibro or are over looked because of a fibro dx.

I visited both my rheumy & neuro this past week. My rheumy added Gabapentin(Neurontin) to my other meds, as i am still having pain while on the others, plus also gave me a script for Percocet, if i need it. But i didn't fill it yet, as i just started the Gabapentin, and i don't reach the full dosage til the 3rd week.

Went to Neuro, as i have possible MS. He started with the good news.....I really don't think it's MS. He seems to think that i have some kind of neuropathy going on,,,,,and he said we will get to the bottom of everything going on. He ordered more lab work, MRI & MRA of the brain and lumbar spine, as NO ONE has ever looked at the lumbar area. OMG!! i wonder what we will find there. And also ordered and EMG....on my LEGS! OUCH! the one on my arms and hands was painful, i can't imagine how it will feel on the legs. He is also hoping that i didn't have another stroke. this is the reason for the MRA, to compare to the one i had about 4 years ago. He also added Ecotrin, once a day. he said it wouldn't hurt me to do that. as about 4 years back, i had a few little TIA's, so i was told. and now the numbness is legs, feet, hands, and arms is constant, it doesn't come and go anymore.
WOW! what a blabber i am.....sorry bout that.
and neuro did agree with the FM too.

good luck and take care
