hey everyone new here. I am 26 nearly 27yold female. I am 5'7 and currently 102lbs. Used to be 133lbs.
i have been diagonosed with anorexia in 2000. since then i have been in outpt for a few months but quit. couldnt bear putting weight on anymore. Ive been keeping my weight low. But it doesnt seem low enough for me and ive decided to lose even more. Sometimes i feel that this is just normal for me and i dont think i will ever get over this. Even though my weight is not that low is this still classified as anorexia. I still feel my weight is the same as before i even lost any. This feeling will never go away. I am glad i joined these boards. Hope to get to know you all. Anyone else from Australia?

Hi Itty http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wave.gif

Well, I have to say, I am glad you have put on some weight, even if it's low. It's a start. But please don't lose any more if you can. Make it a goal to maintain your current weight.

For just being diagnosed in 2000, your doing fantastic. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

By the way, yes, that feeling will go away, eventually. But you need to give it time.

My 1st bout w/anorexia was when I was 16. I knew I needed to do something when I almost passed out walking down the hall at school.

I gained some weight like you did. Not a whole lot, but I wasn't a walking skelaton anymore, but still low. I maintained that weight until my 2nd bout at the age of 20, but I never did get as low as I did the 1st time. Recovered and made myself gain some weight. Yet again, too low, but decent enough to pass doctors inspection.

I maintained this weight for years, fought the feelings, etc. Untill, walah, 1 day at the age of 33, all of a sudden, I have to watch my weight again and those horrible feelings associated with ED are gone. I'm eating normally and whenever I want and yes, I throw in an occasional desert, while I continue to watch my weight by exercising and trying to eat health. BUT THE ANOREXIC FEELINGS FOR THE MOST PART ARE GONE. Yes, occasionaly they pop up, especially if I've eaten a yummy piece of cake, but for the most part are gone. I'm loving it. ! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/bang.gif

So in answer to your question, yes, hard work & determination, those feelings will go away.

Good girl http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/bang.gif Youv'e got half the battle won. Keep it up.

By the way, Ashlee's not from Australia, but next best thing, New Zealand. She'll be along shortly to welcome you and watch out, she'll talk your ear off http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dizzy.gif http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Cat

Welcome Itty33, 102 seems very low to me for 5'7" because that's below the low end of the weight charts for my height 5'2" - but I don't know whether it's dangerously low or not. But I agree with Cat - probably a good goal would be to maintain it for now. Please don't try to lose more. Glad you've come and I hope you get some help from the boards. I'm here because I have friends here. My weight problems are at the other end of the scale... I don't know how tall I'd have to be to be at a "normal weight". They don't make people that tall LOL. Good luck, Mel

Welcome, Itty! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wave.gif

Let me just warn you about Cat, for a start. She can be really sarcastic and mean to me at times... I know from past experience... http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif Just try to stay on her good side and you’ll be okay! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/tongue.gif

J U S T K I D D I N G !!! (Don’t get mad, anybody – especially the Great Cat Herself!) Of course, you all know I’m joking! Cat’s great! And a lot of help I might add! We just like to make fun of each other from time to time, you see... we do that a lot. I got her back real good on another forum the other day! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Hehehe... Cat, we’re still waiting in Kuala Lumpur for you to clean out the plane before we take off again! Yuck yuck YUCK!!!

Okay, okay... back to the topic.

Let me congratulate you for keeping your weight stable for now, Itty. That’s a great start. I know if feels horrible, but now that you know you have an eating disorder you have to make yourself realise that eating disorder thoughts are incredibly deceiving. Basically, whatever those eating disorders are telling you; you need to think the exact opposite. Difficult, huh? Yeah, it is, but you CAN do it. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

See, Cat? I didn’t talk too much! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/tongue.gif

Take care, Itty!

Ashlee

PS: Yes, I am from New Zealand... so not quite in Australia I'm sorry! We're neighbours though! And IN know that there have been people here from Aussie in the past... and I'm sure you'll meet some real soon!

http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/tongue.gif Ashlee, I'm not cleaning the plane http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/tongue.gif Not after you tickled that poor gorrilla & made him lose his dinner.

Those that do the cause most do the cleanup, hahahahaha

And here I was worried that the big mean gorrilla was going to harm you http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/bang.gif. Showed me. Ashlee can tame just about anything http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Cat
