It's just a fancy way of saying MENSTRUAL CRAMPS or painful periods. It's exactly the same thing. As for OTC meds, you can always just do the regular Advil - up to 800 mg (4 tablets) or Aleve, I think you can take 2 or 3 of those.

But if your periods are really painful, you should get a prescription strength naproxen (which is generic aleve) because it helps more than the OTC stuff. In fact I'm surprised your doctor didn't suggest a prescription pain killer for painful cramps, because that's what they usually do.

well I didnt ask a doctor because I have no insurance. So I always take motrin. If I do have this it wont kill me if I dont do anything about it right?

Well I should hope not, because nine times out of ten, women get painful cramps with every single period. If it was deadly, then majority of women would have died by now.

Why didn't you ask your doctor more questions when he/she told you this? And why didn't you search for it on internet? All you have to do is type dysmennorea into a search engine and read what it says. You will see that it just means menstrual cramps. I don't know why you'd be concerned when pretty much every women gets cramps with their period?

well I didnt know because it is a disease and I dont know if I have it or not never talked to a doctor about it thats why I came on here. I know every woman has period cramps but not every woman has dysmenorrhea its alot different when you got that. I did look on the internet but it didnt tell me what I wanted to know.

So you have painful cramps and are assuming it's this? Just take come Aleve. If that doesn't help, then it's something else and you need to go to the doctor.
