I am just curious. I experienced relentless stomach pain and sickness especially in the morning, but also to a lesser extent throughout the day. I am taking Xanax now and it is gone, but has anyone else had the major stomach issues. For me this was probably the most debilitating symptom of my anxiety. The mornings were usually by far the worst though.

Just curious,
Mat

Hi Mat, I get the stomach pains, I was told it can be very common to have irritable bowels from anxiety. Mine too hurts bad in the morning, and after I take my Xanax it pretty much goes away. Weird, but hey, if it works. Take Care, Michelle

IBS is probably the worst part in my opinion. Thank god for Xanax.
LOL. Anyway, thanks for the responses, I am noticing a slight reccurence of the stomach pain even on 1.5 mg of Xanax. May be tim to increase the dosage a little. Thanks again!

I have it also, and have had it for yrs and yrs, it's a Nervous Stomach . I never knew it was anxiety, until I researched it. Then I realized I also had other symptoms of anixety, not even the doctors could figure it out. But yes, I also have IBS, and Acid Reflux, which has progressed to Barretts, guess that kinda goes with it for some.

Hi Mat

My main pains are in my stomach and chest , the stomach pains can cripple me sometimes and I cant move for a long while . The pain spreads all over my stomach , sometimes it is shooting and stabbing pains and other times its a crushing pain . I am also worse in the mornings I am ok for the first 10 mins I wake up then it kicks in and I feel sick for the rest of the day !!

Do you all notice that when you eat it takes some of the stomach pain away? Because of this fact I have been to the doctors multiple times because I have conned myself into thinking I had an ulcer. Also, in the morning, I am glad you mentioned the delay upon waking up. Almost every morning there is a delay before the pain comes and when it does it is like a freight train.

Yes if I eat i feel better than normally , but then I really dont eat well at all so I guess that dosent help , at the moment I cannot face food till late afternoon and i eat one slice of toast , then at night time when I feel safe I get hungry.

I am not sure why when I wake up I feel ok at first, but latley I have been convincing myself I am ok till I drink my cup of tea and thats when the pain kicks in .

Boxermad,

Tea and coffee can both induce intestinal spasms, especially on an empty stomach. They are both diuretics/laxatives. EVEN DECAF. Herbal tea probably won't do it, though, but that's not *really* tea.

Are you having diarrhea too? I find that if I drink coffee with nothing in my stomach I have cramps almost immediately and have to RUN to the WC.

Just a thought.

Well, I can't say as I really experience any stomach "pain" with my anxiety/depression, but I do feel nauseated pretty much 24/7, with morning being the worst. Most days I wake up gagging...not a pretty way to start the day. Like Boxermad, I get most of my eating in these days later in the day, when I'm feeling least likely to vomit. I'd just really like to enjoy eating again, but I think I've figured something out: Eating has always been something I 've done for enjoyment, and since I'm not currently enjoying my life, I can't enjoy eating. Pretty simple when you think about it. I just hope I don't develop an eating disorder because of all I'm going through.
