Can someone please tell me the correct way (using pounds and inches) to figure out your BMI.

Thank you.

To find your BMI....
Multiply your weight by 704.7
Divide that number by your height squared.
That answer is your BMI.

Heights squared: 5'0"= 3600 5'1"= 3721 5'2"= 3844 5'3"= 3969 5'4"= 4096 5'5"= 4225 5'6"= 4356 5'7"= 4489 5'8"= 4624 5'9"= 4761 5'10"= 4900 5'11"= 5041

Note that the heights are rounded to the nearest inch. If you wanted a more accurate height, such as 5'5.5'' then you would square 65.5 giving you 4290.25.
If you wanted 5'3.25'' then you would square 63.25, ect.

Numbers are a bad bad thing-don't worry about your BMI-anyways, you may figure it out, but it many not be accrute-for like muscle weighs more than fat and if you have a lot of muscle your BMI is going to be higher(even though it really isn't). Avoid numbers-

I know I shouldn't worry about numbers. But, I don't know how to stop. I get up every morning and weigh. I think about weight and food ALL DAY LONG! I wish I didn't feel this way but don't know how to stop it. I can't afford any help at all. I'm a single mom who makes just enough not to qualify for anything but not enough for anything extra.

Hi, Annie. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

I do understand how you feel – but Cutenbrat’s right about this one. Don’t judge yourself on numbers. They’re so inaccurate anyhow – what’s the point on deciding how your day’s going to be just based on those? Besides, numbers are for math... and who wants to worry about math once they’re out of school?!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dizzy.gif http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I sure don’t!

Perhaps you could try to set a little rule for yourself where you go and do something EACH day that you really enjoy (spending time with your kids, going for a walk, etc), where you FORBID yourself to think about numbers/weight/food. Make that a time where you don’t have to worry about it at all, so that you can just enjoy yourself and almost forget that you are even affected by an eating disorder!

I realise it’ll be difficult to do, but anything’s worth a shot, right? Just give it a go, you never know!

I’m sorry I’m not really sure about what you can do about getting help. Hopefully someone else will have some ideas, and I’ll be sure to think about it for you to see if I can come up with something! Until then, good luck and take care of yourself!

Ashlee
