I reciently started college and am now living on residence. A week or so after I moved in, I cought a cold. The cold eventually went away, but flem and a very sore throat seem to continue disrupting my body. I don't know why I still have these symptoms after 4 weeks since my cold, and it seems that reciently its has become worse; this morning, it was even hard to talk for a while.
I dont know if its mold, some kind of allergy, or whatever. It may even be from my roommate's things; he's a diabetic and he has some ingestible oils, etc. in our fridge.
I go home on the weekends sometimes, but for only 1-2 days so its very hard to tell any change at all.
Is there any way to know for sure what it is? Any tests I can do?
Thanks.

Can you tell more. Give more examples and other info. Do you dress warm. Make sure you do not sweat and than have a cold wind blow on you. I usually get sick when I sweat and I am wearing very light clother thorugh which wind blows easily and reaches my back. Do you overstudy or get not enough sleep, because this can cause high blood pressure next day and make you mre resistant to cold and other diseases.

I'm dressing the same as always and don't seem to be cold or hot in any part of my daily routine.
I have been staying up later and, you know, usually college stuff, but am still getting enough sleep, especially compared to others in my classes whom pull all nighters and are not as sick as me.
It almost feels like I have to throw-up sometimes. Maybe it could be stress...I'm not sure.
Any way of eliminating possibilities of mold, allergies, etc. would be great, because I'd hate to have this the rest of the year.
Thanks.

try taking double the daily recommended amount of vitamin c and start taking zinc. Also take a good multivitamin everyday and if you feel like your getting worse..double the vitamins for a few days. Also you might be unaware you have developed sinus problems. You body changes every 7 years and you might have developed allergies. try taking steam showers to keep your sinus passages clear and try using a humidifier while you sleep. Dry air can cauz you to have a sore throat

Could be a form of STREP. Have you seen a doctor? After four weeks with the same symptoms, it might be time.

Could be allergies. Try some over the counter allergy medicine and see if you feel better. Ask the pharmacist about which one to buy.

This sounds exactly like symptoms I had when I was at Uni and I all could ever work out that it could be was freshers' flu - just lots of new people in one place and everybody catching everyone else's germs (what a lovely thought!). If you've just had a cold your immune system won't be fully able to fight off all the other germs as well so you can stay ill for a while.
I just took vitamins, made sure that I had lots of orange juice and fresh fruit and kept in rations of cough sweets and glycerin to drink at night to help soothe my throat so I could sleep. I got every single term for the three years at uni even when I was just sharing a house with 5 people.
I usually had symptoms for 5 or 6 weeks, but if it doesn't go away or you are worried go and see your doctor.
