Been posting how I've been worried about my mom's symptoms. Well yesterday she had her ultrasound and all was ok. I felt so relieved! But it was so short-lived. Dr wants more testing (a colonoscopy this time) and I couldn't stop myself from googling and now am freaking about colon cancer! Whey does it always have to be cancer? I'm still taking my meds but I'm going to have to talk to my dr. soon because I don't feel any better and its been a full 3 weeks now.
Anyone know anyting about colon cancer? Only symptom she has is lower left abdominal pain....

"Anyone know anyting about colon cancer?"
Yes, but maybe you shouldn't go there yet! :) I don't know how old your mom is, but colonoscopies are routine after a certain age, and are very helpful.
Sometimes I think the Internet is not such a good thing for a person with anxiety. IF your mom gets diagnosed with something such as colon CA, then you would have plenty of time to do your research. Why don't you make yourself a promise that you won't research anything until you know for sure what to research?!
A counsellor once taught me that if you're going to think the worst in every situation, then you should force yourself to "think globally." In other words, if you imagine the worst happening, then you must give equal time to "the best" possible outcome. If you're worried about a colon cancer diagnosis, make yourself give equal time to imagining a clean bill of health for your mom.

Hi bmcm,
I agree with the other poster that you shouldn't even go there yet and that test is very routine after a certain age.
BUT, if you have questions about that illness, please post them on the board that deals with that illness.

Does your mom still have her ovaries, uterus, etc.? Maybe it's a female thing. Please don't freak out and try to stay calm for your mom's sake as well as yours. Maybe it's nothing, maybe it's just stones or female stuff. Until there's a diagnosis all this worrying is making it worse. Listen to that song 'don't worry be happy'. Sounds stupid but listen to the words - everybody has trouble but when you worry you make it double.
The good thing is you're doing something about it instead of waiting so even if it is something you caught it early and she'll be fine.......you have to believe that
Take Care,
Tori
