View Full Version : Doc didn't call me back - morning babble

Good morning to everyone.......

I'm up early because I can't sleep much since reducing my Xanax. About 5 hours each in the last 2 nights

I'm hanging in there - the wd's get pretty nasty around dinnertime, but I'm sticking to my dosing schedule. Been feeling pretty dizzy too. Things get worse as the day goes on, for sure.

I don't care, I want to get this stuff out of my life!!

I'm not a very religious person but I gotta say it - "LORD GIVE ME STRENGTH"!!! This is really tough.

I called & left the prescribing doctor a message that I am addicted, and have decided that I must taper off. I also said that I was feeling pretty icky on & off. She didn't call me back :(

Just kind of bummed out I guess.... I realize she's busy... I dunno, I guess I was hoping for some extra support from her. Then again, she seemed very willing to give me lots of xanax & wasn't worried about me being addicted at all, even when I brought it up once.

heck, I've been to many doctors over the past year due to other health stuff, and not one batted an eye at the fact that I've taken xanax every single day for 1.5 years.

Oh well, guess I'll go crawl back in bed with the dog for a bit before I need to get in the shower. Just needed to post here this a.m. & ground myself. I think coming here on a regular basis is going to be very important in getting myself sober.

I hope you all have a good day - cheers!

I'm sorry for the way your feeling and just stay at this dose for a little bit. Your right the doc prescribe everything and when there is a problem all of a sudden your treated like crap. Isnt there a reason why this is a controled substance and didnt they learn anything in the 10yrs they went to school? All of a sudden where the bad ones dont get me started!!! Did you look up Dr heather Ashton I know you have been told by others please look it up. I thinks thats why her taper plan is so available is because she knows Dr's dont help with a taper. Kim

Hi Kim, thanks for writing back!

I did look up Dr. Ashton's site & tried to work out a decent taper plan for myself. I also saw a new doctor today (for my thyroid) & I told him about the xanax addiction - he told me I should allow a good 6-8 weeks to taper off the Xanax - my plan is a bit faster than that, so maybe I'll adjust it just a tiny bit (Unless I feel like I can handle the faster taper I came up with, which is about 4.5 weeks).

Anyway - that's about it. Have a good day!
