View Full Version : Tell Me About Suboxone?

Or is it Subutex? I know the spelling is all wrong-are they the same thing.

I'm completely confused about it.

I've heard so many people rave about it. I've also heard you can become addicted (or dependent?) on it. I think someone said to stay on it for no more than 7 days.

How does it make you feel? I'm 9 days clean now, but the cravings came back! They weren't there when going through w/d's too bad. I'm also still feeling that bobblehead/loose brain dizziness.

I was addicted to Hydro. I have no addictions otherwise. I'm prescribed Valium for anxiety, but really don't like it. However, I have been using it the last week to help me sleep. Do you think I'm still feeling like crap because that's in my system? I don't want to become dependent on that either.

I'm craving enough that I called my doctor and told him I had a migraine and need something for pain just to see what would happen. I'm not craving enough though to order my refill through my OP.

What happens if you go off it? Do you start craving again? Is it hard to come off it? I found the list online and found some doctors in my area, do they fit you in pretty quick? Do they just give it to you, or do you have to have it filled at a pharmacy? I guess I don't understand how you can feel great on it, while taking away cravings.

Can anyone fill me in?

Thanks,
Renee

Not sure about suboxone, but I was given the subutex for the first week after quitting. Yes, it did replace the cravings and I feel helped me to not get sick.

Hey Tim-

What's the difference between the two?

So if I've already made it over the first few days of feeling sick, it really wouldn't help?

Did the cravings come back after you got off it?

Yes, I had cravings on and off during the first month. The first 2-3 weeks were pretty bad. I can remember having a craving all morning long. So Strong that I just wanted to stand up and start jumping up and down. ugggh. lauging at myself right now. I would try to make it without the sub at this point. I would hate to see you get addicted to something else. It might be worth asking a doctor who specializes in this. I would hate to give you the wrong info. I would do a google search on both of them.

Hey guys,

Renee, I'm glad you started this thread. I've looked at the suboxone website, but of course it just talks about how great it is. Then I've read threads on here where people are in addiction hell from the sub. I think I need to try it. Although I can quit taking pills, and make it thru withdrawals, I cave after a couple of weeks. It's the mental cravings that are beating me up. Would be very interested in hearing people's experiences w/suboxone and or subtux? the other one! and what the difference is.

Thanks,
Debbie

Doesnt matter the sub from what I hear is hell to get off of and no matter what you will still have cravings do you think an recovering alcoholic never craves a drink again? This is an addiction you have to fight it yes you can take sub for the w/d's but guess what once off that you will still have cravings been a long time and I still crave. Its all part of the addiction the longer you go the less the cravings. Kim

Suboxone is a wonderful drug to help with opiate addiction. It takes away the patients withdrawls and cravings while leaving them with a clear head. There is no "high" with buprenorphene(suboxone, subutex) so the patient can get on with their life.Buprenorphene is addictive and has to be detoxed from the body.A slow detox is best with the patient getting down to .25mgs a day before stopping altogether. If it's done right there is usually very little discomfort but it does take time to detox....Dave:)
