I have multiple health problems but am new to the diabetes board. I was just diagnosed yesterday with Type 2.
I had good numbers after lunch (116) and dinner (117) yesterday. I was feeling OK at those times. When I woke up this morning, I felt like my usual self (of the past 2 years)...nauseated, headachy, dizzy and vomiting. I took my fasting glucose, and it was 160! What could have happened? Why would my numbers be so good yesterday (Oh, my fasting glucose in the doctor's office yesterday was 100) and so bad this morning? I don't have any meds for this yet, so what do I do? Should I eat something? How do I get that number to go down?
BTW, meds are going to be a problem for me, as I can't take anything that causes stomach side effects. I tried Glucophage (including the controlled release) when I was diagnosed with insulin resistance. No go. I couldn't get anywhere near the therapeutic dose.
Thanks in advance for any input.

160 is not Bad. Its not the best....but it is no where close to being bad. Its only one Days reading. dont worry about it

Overnight, your liver puts out glucose - this "nocturnal rise" is well known to most people who regularly monitor their FBS. As you get your sugars under good control over the next couple of weeks, you should see this number decrease.
I agree that 160 is not a reading I would be concerned about, if it is only one reading. If your after-meals readings are low like this, then for most of your day you have had a low blood sugar. The game here is based on the average sugar level over time.
For many years, I controlled my sugars well through diet alone, with no medicines. Work on reducing your carbohydrate intake. You may be able to successfully do it without any medicines.

Thanks very much for the info. I appreciate it. I've been feeling really ill, especially in the mornings, so I was concerned about that morning number. My blood tests also show that my liver numbers are high (I have to go for a liver sonogram).
Anyway, thanks again.

BTW, when you get sick, your blood sugar sometimes goes higher. A lot of
stress can do it, too.

Yep, and I have an anxiety disorder. Nice, huh?
Thanks again.

HELP, PLEASE!
My 2-hour post-lunch blood glucose went up to 187! That's 20 points higher than it's ever been since I started testing. I didn't keep my lunch down (sorry to be graphic), so maybe the vomiting caused my blood sugar to go up? I know that stress on the body can do that. It's not like I have any meds to help it go down. So, do I just wait for it to go down by itself?
Thanks in advance.

You seem unnecessarily worried about these test results.
Relax. Give it time.
I'd add vitamin B6 to your diet, but mainly I'd just stop worrying so much.
Some values will be high. Get used to it. Get adequate water and exercise. If your blood sugars go up twenty points after eating that is fine.

Well, this is a new diagnosis for me. It came at the same time as another frightening issue was discovered, and I'm scared.
