This sounds crazy, but it seems every time I eat peas I have problems. Can this be, or is it probably something else?

It could just be that you are not chewing them well enough. Sometimes when people eat smal things like peas and corn they end up swallowing whole pieces of the food.

Hi Quincy,
I get "D" within 12 hours. Same with corn, so I guess not chewing them enough makes sense... but, should corn or improperly chewed peas give me "D"...?

Hi..you have UC, right? Are you on any meds or in a flare at this time?
what other supplements are you taking?
The skins of corn and peas aren't digested...they're an unsoluble fibre and that particular kind just is the roughage that takes up room and maybe adds to diarrhea because it doesn't absorb water. Some insoluble fibre absorbs water in the colon and helps slow transit time.
You might be sensitive to peas or corn....so best not to eat them if it gives you diarrhea.
It would be normal for it to happen 12 hours down the road....it's fast transit time, but still in the realm of normal...especially if you have a bowel disease/disorder.

hi Quincy,
Actually, I haven't been diagnosed with anything... yet. I think from reviewing this board, something may be wrong here.
Peas, corn, and raw veggies hurt me. My transit times are 6-12 hours for as long as I can remember.
Recently, I had the "flu" and I just don't feel right since, about 2 months now. Bad cramps, seems I can't eat anyhting without suffering for it.
Taking probiotics and fiber.
I don't have medical, so I'm trying to find some suggestions before I go spend lots of money on tests, but... maybe i should just go.
