Hi, need to moan, I don't know how much more of this I can bear!
Last week I was asked to continue the lamisil tablets for my likely fungal infection. I've had since Spring this year! As they didn't seem to be very effective and the infection had actually spread I was naturally worried. However the doctor I saw asked me to continue with them and try Nizoral shampoo aswell. It will be 5 weeks on lamisil today and a week on the Nizoral shampoo. The Nizoral has caused a kind of reaction, tiny dotty rash over the present infection. Today I am despairing as I have noticed some small patches on my wrists up til now I have been able to cover it up, with long sleeves trousers or long skirts but if it gets on my hands I'm stuffed.
My arms are nearly totally covered in this thing. My legs have got worse, more patches. During the day it looks dry, particularly on my arms, lots of depigmentation. The newer patches are pinker. Some have the slight ring and lighter inside appearance of a tinea infection. After showers/baths it looks vivid red and really angry and every patch is very visible, it looks like it is taking over my body. I'm scared and fed up.
I change towels, bedding pjs etc. I'm taking the meds. Seem to be doing the right things. I cant understand why this isn't getting better.

Hi Monkeyboots,
I am just here to join in with you about bad skin problems. I do know what you mean and what you are going thru and feel for you, if it is anything like mine. Of course, I make mine worse, by picking at my sores! You probably do not!
I do not know the medical name for my sores. They are on my arms mostly, then my upper legs and stomach and on one breast. They are like circles and usually start with 2 or 3 together. If I itch one and then scratch a cut or something with open skin, it mutliplies. I have been to a dermatologist who is giving me pills not to itch so much and a cream to put on the sores that dries them up.
At least I have not had mine as long a you have had your kind. I just got min in August and still have them. I do think the sores are getting better.
Are you being treated by a dermatologist or what kind of dr.? My rheumatologist referred me to him. At 1st I thought that mine was a side effect of my RA.
I do the towels and clothing and such. But do not change my bedding very often, perhaps if I would do that, it would go away faster!!!
Does your dr. not give you any lotion, cream or ointment to put on your fungal infection? Have you had a biopsy? I do hope you get to show some headway in fighting this battle soon. I know how bad this makes you/me feel, when we look at the parts of our body and the things are still there!!!
Hopefully someone else, will write and be able to help you more. Take care.

thanks,
no i am too scared to mess with mine, but i do sometimes itch through my clothes just as bad, I wont touch it though. I'm always washing my hands even when I scratch through my clothes I'm so paranoid about it as it has spread so much over time.
My dermatologist appointment isn't til December! The doctors haven't even done any swab tests.
I am on both lamisil tablets and Nizoral to wash with, but the Nizoral seem irritating so I don't think I will stick with it.
Glad your skin infection is improving. Best wishes for rapid recovery.

Thanks Mauticer,
I don't think so. I looked it up. Some patches are depigmented but on my legs it tends to be pinker patches. Must be a horrible thing to suffer with. Some medical authorities refer to it almost likes its more of a mental condition. That must be irritating if you know something is wrong with your skin. It is a bit like the stigma that used to be attached to M.E.
Take care

Well, usually the Skin Problem has proved to be too tricky & it has always created much troubles & tortures for the Patients.
The fact is Each skin rash has so many complicated symptons & sufferings that the Problem & understanding the root cause as well as right treatment is either confused or lost or experimented.
Either People are not interested to listen about your Skin Problems or they pass on the Buck by advising to go for Skin Specialists. Again in stead of right treatment, either you are put to experimental treatments or asked to go for a Number of tests. Both the way If you are lucky you are geting some relief for sheer coincidence that experiments & disease were matching.
Its a fact that 85 % of Skin Problems are manifestation of some or the other Allergy, 5 % are due to Fungus & remaining could be any thing. So better get the Allergy treatment with Anti fungus topical & Oral Medicines- like Sporanox
Selun Shamoo or any Shampoo with 2.5 % Selenium Sulphide, puting all over body can prove to be good Anti fungul treatment if continued for 4 weeks.
Any good Anti Hitamines or Anti Allergy Medicines are also worth taking to see you have treated the Allergy, While most important is One must find out about the particular thing that each respective patient might have been allergic to. Unless one avoids the Allergen, he would continue to suffer.
Plus, One must take some Vitamin C rich Fruits & Vegetables, Anti Oxidents like Orange Juice, Some Garlic & other natural foods rich in Vitamins & Minerals, while keeping care of cleanliness & hygin of body.
I do wish relief to all, suffering from Skin Problems ( A whole lot suffers ) & like them to be with healthier smiles. Just "Takecare"
