Hey there, apologies if this has been posted time and time again, I couldn't find anything that fits when I searched.
The general jist is that if I get too hungry, I get super nauseous, and then if I do eat something, it does not stay down. Added bonus is that it seems like I'm almost always hungry.
[long post incoming!]
I went to my doc about 2 months ago, with complaints that I was feeling nauseous or vomitting almost every day (I hadn't put together the hunger connection yet) and that had started back in midsummer. I switched from Effexor to Wellbutrin (this may or may not be related, so I'm including this), which was pretty ugly. After I got settled with that, I think I got some sort of stomach bug which made me really sick (read: couldn't keep a thing down for 2 days), and its like I've never totally recovered from it. Morning sickness & pregnancy were ruled out.
Anyway, my doc poked around my abdomen, did a basic workover of my breathing, blood pressure, and then prescribed me two things one dealt with acid production, and then Ovol for gas production (tagamet and cimetidine come to mind). Didn't do anything. I went back and he prescribed me Pariet for 14 days, which also didn't do much.
In the meantime, I was getting headaches that were getting worse, more frequent, and for longer. So I went in to get that checked out. Eventually he ordered a whole whack of blood tests to see what the heck is going on.
They come back with 4 numbers elevated quite a bit above normal. GGT, LDH, AST, ASP and a few others were tested. As far as I can understand, the elevated numbers indicate something's up with my liver and/or gallbladder, or I'm fighting an infection, something along those lines. Two weeks in a row, those 4 numbers were elevated, with 2 increasing and 2 decreasing and possibly returning to normal. So now my doc has requested that I get an abdominal ultrasound to see what's what with the liver/GB.
So, this is where I'm at now. I need to eat almost constantly to not get hungry and therefore get nauseaous, and possible vomit.
My question is: has anyone experience anything remotely similar to what I've described? My doc is (hopefully) doing the best he can on his end, but in the meantime, I wouldn't mind some ideas or explanations or even some 'comfort' in knowing that someone else has similar problems.
Thanks
