My period ended last weekend on Saturday. On Thursday the DR did a pap smear and since then some brown muscas stuff in coming out of me. Did he dislodge something or is this leftover from my period???

I also had a yeast infection while having my period and used monastat.

Thanks for any info!

It's more than likely old blood left from your period and you have nothing to worry about. Also it's fine to use Monistat during your period.

It could be to do with your period, or sometimes the smear does cause some spotting. It should really only last a few days though. Since my smear, I've had nothing but problems. The actual result came back clear, but I've been bleeding and clotting a lot for the last 2 weeks. My pregnancy test came back negative, and my urine test came back clear. Yesterday at work I started having massive blood clots and became really heavy, so I went to see a doctor and was rushed to the hospital, where they did blood tests and other tests to check for everything. At the moment I'm taking 5 lot's of tablets. Ones to reduce bleeding and others to treat in case there is any sort of infection. I'll find out on Tuesday or Wednesday for sure, but for now I'm actually taking 22 tablets a day.

Keep in touch!

Hello!

I got a letter in the mail about my pap smear results and it says that the speciman was nondiagnostic and that there were not enough cervical cells to be evaluated by the pathologist. What does this mean?

Thanks,

Cindy

Hi rockylucy is just means that there wasn't enough cells taken to get a true "reading" of your cervix. This could be because the nurse or doctor taking the smear didn't take enough cells from your cervix or maybe you were very close to your period, or had sex very close to the time of your pap.

It doesn't actually mean there is anything wrong with your cervix, you just have to get your smear taken again.

I have quite often had to go back for a repeat smear or be sent to a gyno due to the fact that when they attempt to do the smear i bleed and the slide onto which they smear the cells onto is covered with too much blood for them to be able to read the cells.

If a smear is attempted once and fails, they ought to tell you that you can not have another smear for at least 6 weeks as there needs to be enough time between smears for the cells to settle.

The best smear to get is the Thin Prep as for whatever reason it provides more and better information than the traditional smears.

Hi Malibu and Audrey!

Thank you so much for answering my question. You made me feel better and not so nervous.

Thanks,

Cindy
