View Full Version : Sugar making me sick, is this normal?

The last month and a half or so I have been eating really healthy - all fruits, vegetables and lots of fish, seafood, healthy vitamin drinks and other vitamins. No meat or sugar and mostly organic products. I have been exercizing as well.

Yesterday I woke up and broke my healthy track and ate a pizza (organic) first thing. Then I went to afternoon tea and had just tea (no milk or sugar) with one and a half scones and clotted cream and jam.

I got sick very soon afterwards. I felt upset in my stomach and rather nauseated.

Today I was back on track and feeling better as the day went on. This evening my mother gave me organic chocolate cookies, which I ate and soon after I felt the same nauseated feeling in my stomach. Hours later I still feel that rather ill feeling in my stomach.

I was wondering if this is normal? Before I started eating healthy I ate junk food like crazy - candy bars, soda, beer, everything unhealthy. I was always fine. My mother eats very healthy as well but does not get the same reaction I do to eating sugar. I was wondering if this is normal?
Thanks!

It sounds to me that your body is ysed to eating healthy and feelling good. When you ate all of the sugary food your body went into a form of shock and responded by getting sick. It also may be from the combination of what you ate.
Hope this helps!

I think your blood sugar went haywire when you gave your body sugar after not having any for so long. If I don't have sugar for even just a few hours, I feel weird, nauseous, sick etc...and sometimes if I gorge on sweet foods, I'll feel really good but then so sick afterwards.

It's either the blood sugar going wild (it's best to have either no sugar consistently, or just a LITTLE bit regularly...yet you've been having fruit, which has fructose which is sugar...so I don't know...maybe it's the artificial sugar or the increased amount in the things that made you sick that did it)...or it's the junk aspect of what you ate.

Hmm.
