Alright ... I dont know too much about this disorder but I think I might have it just because it matches everything I do to a T.
Kay first things first .... I truly believe its taking over my life. Like heres some examples of the things that I do that are getting a bit out of hand ...
1) I say my prayers 2 times every night because it has to be even numbers ... and If I forget to remember how many times I said them I will do them 4 times, not 3.
2) I will check my straightner and stove to make sure its not on even though I checked it already like 6 times but just to be sure, even if im like 10 min. away from my house because then I start thinking how terrible I would feel for the rest of my life if I burned the house down while my family was there, I get very upset.
3) I have to make sure that all my stuffed animals have a pal, like if I notice my one stuffy is alone I have to put it with the others.
4) I have to look under my bed twice before I go to bed to make sure noones hiding.
5) Sometimes when Im jogging or biking I will see a green light and I say I have to make the light or something bad will happen or ill fail at something and sometimes I even risk my life trying to make the light.
6) Notice how I couldnt stop at 5 ??? Lol ... even though I dont know what else I do ... I cant stop doing something at an uneven number ...
Is this OCD ???
Thanks Guys

Hey
No, you are far from weird, and it does indeed sound like OCD. Only a doctor can say so though with any professional certainty though. There are other things it could be down to, like regular stress or some form of general anxiety, but usually the type of behaviour you describe is down to OCD.
Have you ever spoken to a doctor about what you are experiencing?

Crying-
Nope you're not weird, because if all of us that have OCD were weird, there would be alot of weird people out there!! I will agree with Steve and say that it does sound like a mild form of OCD or a generalized anxiety disorder. The need to do things in even numbers and check things that you've already checked are signs of OCD. I used to do the thing with the even numbers. Why? Because "odd" numbers are bad, right? You also said if you didn't make the green light that you would fail at something, or something bad would happen. Another sign of OCD.
I would recommend that you seek out a good CBT (Cognitive Beaharioal Therapist) in your area as they will be able to help you deal with the issues behind your OCD. Medications can help, but in most cases you'll still have some symptoms because medications are not a cure all for OCD. The best and most widely used method is Cognitive Behavrioal Therapy in conjunction with medications, usually SSRI medications like Zoloft, or Paxil.
I hope this helps, and good luck! :D
