First back to the beginning. I have fibroids, two golfball and many marble size. My period ran all summer. My gyno put me on Provera to stop my period which worked for awhile. He also told me to start Depo Provera which he said would eventually stop my periods or at least slow them down.

I started again Sept 14th and haven't stopped yet. I got my second Depo shot last week and started the Provera again. Still haven't stopped my period. As I have been reading these Healthboards I have noticed other women writing that they have been given Provera to START their periods. Have I been given the wrong info from my doctor? Or am I interpreting these other threads wrongly?

Also if anyone has any suggestions about how to make my period stop I would love to hear some. I'm spending a fortune on pads and my husband is less than thrilled with our lack of sex.

Many thanks.

I had the same problem.. its like the faucet just wont turn off at all, I was also told to go on provera but I didnt go on it because my girlfriend whos a nurse told me that it wasnt really a good idea and they have had alot of women come in to emergency because of severe bleeding. I ended up going on prometrium on a high dosage it did stop and regulate my periods.. however it makes you space out a little until you adjust to the medication. I take it on the every 15th for 7 days after my last pill I have my cycle which last a week.
