I'm new and have been reading lots of posts trying to get a grasp on what others in our situation have seen as results. We're starting our second round of IUI this wednesday after ttc for on our own for over a year now. DH has poor morph (4%) but good numbers. All ok on my end (have a 6 y/o from prev relationship. Last cycle we used clomid. BFN and to top it off developed a cyst :( Had to wait 2 cycles to try again and this time we are using follistim. Had second us friday and 6 good follicles so far. What type of results have people had with poor morph? What about with using Follistim? Please help, I'm going nuts.
Thanks all!

Hi BJ's Mama

Just wanted to say welcome! My DH doesn't have any morph problems, so I'm not much help there. I had my 2nd IUI this cycle. I've never used follistim, but did use a similar product (Gonal F, which is FSH) for this cycle...I personally had no symptoms from that medication, or from the HCG trigger. I had a second medication I had to take to prevent me from ovulating until they were ready (Cetrotide) and that made me really nauseous, but the rest of the meds were easy. I also got a cyst on my third round of clomid--that was painful and depressing. Good luck with this cycle!

Welcome BJ, there are ways that dh sperm quality can be improved as my dh had poor numbers for everything back in June, morph 4% normal, motility0%count 20, but the last semen analysis showed dramatic improvement and now his morph 20% normal, motility 40%, count 111 (5 times higher!) He was already on multivits and zinc and selenium supplements before, but for the last 3 months took a herb called pycnogenal which I found out is reputed to improve male factor issues. He also cut out alcohol (he is just an occasional social drinker) and stopped smoking (had already reduced from 30 to 10 a day prior to this).I was amazed at the improvement and the doctor said that whatever dh was doing to carry on as it was working.I attribute this result to the pycnogenal which come in tablet form, they are quite expensive but I think are worth the price with these results.Good luck with your IUI and hope this is your month.

Thanks guys! I've been reading for a few months now without joining and have found great support just from reading everyone else's posts. This site is most helpful.

ledfoot - where do you get those supplements? We're willing to try anything at this point.

In the UK I get the pycnogenol from Holland and Barrett healthfood stores and it costs £18 for a month supply of 30mg tablets. My dh took 60mg a day. Its a concentrated antioxidant from pine tree bark that also has several other benefits for health as well as for MF infertility.Part of the detox process would also include drinking lots of water to get rid of the toxins. I dont know where you get vitamin/herb supplements in the States, but if you go onto google and type in what you want, there are on line sites that sell it.Give it 3 months to see any results. :D Hope that helps.
