So I went into the doctor to find out what was wrong w/ me. I was throwing up at least 4 times a day (w/o eating anything) and I had a VERY high fever. I was trying to avoid the doctor but when my fever got up to 105.1 I knew I had to go. He noticed that I was Jaundice and said he needed a urine sample, but I was so dehydrated that I couldn't give him one. So, he sent me to the hospital, and it went downhill from there. To make a severely long story relatively short: I was there for 2 weeks. I had 104 labs done on me, an MRI, numerous x-rays, a liver biopsy, my gallbladder was needlessly removed, and I was misdiagnosed for about a week and a half with autoimmune hepatitis. Approxamately an hour before I was discharged they informed me that I didn't have autoimmune hepatitis, but I had Mononucleosis. So I was a little relieved. They put me on an antibiotic Stereriod (Prednisone), because my liver enzymes were elevated. Then, I found out in a follow up doctor's appointment that they still aren't sure and they sent my liver biopsy to some university to be studied. The liver biopsy came in and apparently I have Mono and Acute Cholestatic Hepatitis. I have no idea what that is, and it's practically impossible to find out. But apparently it can be caused by medicine. So, according to my doctor's orders, I gradually stopped taking the Prednisone. But ever since I've been done with it, i"ve had either a low grade fever or a mid grade fever. And today, I got these severe and sharp pains on my right side where the liver is. The first time it only lasted 10 minutes or so, but it took my breath away. The next time (about 3 hours later) It hit so hard and sudden I had to stop what I was doing. But this time it didn't go away, it lasted for around 2 hours. Then I had a breif 10 minute break, then it came back for another hour or so. Now the area is still tender, and I can't lie on that side or the pain will be almost unbearable. SO_ that's what's going on. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what Acute Cholestatic Hepatitis is?, and, Is the pain anything I should worry about?
Thanks a million

Acute Canalicular (cholestatic) hepatitis is usually caused by certian drugs like steriods but can be viral as well. It usually disappears when the substance is removed but since your symptoms are worse I would revisit the doctor and ask to be refered to a hepatologist.
