My mom had her first week of accupunture and can already feel a difference. He is a very reputable accupunturist who has two well known offices so we knew he wasn't trying to "sell" her a promise. He told her that he would be very upfront with her during the initial consultation of whether or not her felt he could help her. It looks very encouraging. Her complaint was numbness and burning in feet and fingertips. This is just a "shot in the dark", but so far it looks good!

I am really happy for your mum, thats fantastic news :) i am really interested in this, as my reply in your initial post about accupunture was so negative in regards to accupunture for neuropathy.
May i ask, do they know what is causing your mums Neuropathy [ Neuro's i mean ], or is it idiopathic neuropathy, and do you know what herbs are being used, i was on Neurotin for only one day couldn't stand the stuff, brain fog was awfull.

My mom's cause of neuropathy is of the unknown kind. She is not diabetic and all other blood work is normal. She does know that some of her numbness is from 6 cycles of chemo she had earlier this year for ovarian cancer that thank GOD was detected in a very early stage. It had not gone anywhere else in her body, so chemo was just for added insurance after her surgery. I do beleive that accupunture is helping her. She says she is starting to feel different sensations that she hadn't felt before her numbness. As far as the herbs, the Dr. personally makes an herbal tea that is made with herbs that he feels would be most helpful for her. That's what so different and about this way of treating, because the treatment is individual for each patient, not a standard Rx for everyone. Yes, my mom did take Neurotonin but she said it made her feel worse than the chemo treatments did as far as making her feel out of it. With accupunture and herbs, she has so much energy that I have to keep up with her! Keep in touch, and good luck if you give it a try. Like my mom says, if it doesn't seem to help her completely, atleast she gave it her best "shot". No pun intended!

I was reading in cyberspace about 'chemo induced peripheral neuropathy'. You may find some other dietary supplements that many help.

I, also, am a believer in accupunture. I have neuopothy in my feet from Diabetes, but already take so much medication, that I didn't want to add another unless I absolutly had to. My podiatrist suggested I try accupunture. I was very skeptical, but went it for a consultation. They were most confident that they could help me. I began going twice a week for treatment. Almost immediately I noticed a difference. The shooting pains disappeared, my feet still ached, but not the pains that make you jump. I continued this for a month and then dropped down to once a week. By now, my feet did not hurt much at all, gradually the pain disappeared and my appointments became further apart. I got to once a month and thought I could quit them all together. Well, let me tell you, thats not how it works. I was fine for a couple months but then started noticing the dull ache again, now they hurt all the time again, shooting pains and all. It has now been 4 months since I had treatment and my feet hurt terribly. Time to go back. FYI...Money was a big issue in why I quit going, I have no insurance and treatments can get expensive, but it does work.

Do you know what vitamins and the doses that people are using? I would really appreciate that information. If the neuropathy is from chemo it's repairable if you do something soon enough. Thanks jbird
