View Full Version : Pain at epidural site and now constant twitching? Related or not?

I recently gave birth four months ago. Shortly after birth, I began experiencing an ache in my spine, at the epidural site. The pain isn't unbearable, but it isn't pleasant, to say the least. I never saw the doctor about it, I figured it would eventually go away. About one week ago, I started experiencing CONSTANT twitching throughout my body, but especially my right leg and both arms. These twitches don't hurt, but they led me to symptom searching on the net. I kept running across ALS, and scard myself half to death. I literally convinced myself that this is what I had. I definately don't fall in the diagnostic category. I'm a 29 y/o female. But after reading up on neurological diseases it suddenly hit me, that MAYBE the epidural has caused damage to my spine, creating these twitches throughout my body.

Does this seem logical to you?
Has anyone experienced anything like this?
Should I see a neurologist?
I'm at a loss as to what I should do, and I can't seem to find a link between the two on the net, and I'm really hoping someone on here has some valuable information for me regarding the association of these two symptoms.

Thank you for your time!!!
I appreciate any thoughts or opinions!

I had a friend who, after her epidural and birth of her child had headaches to this day that don't go away. They come and go. She believes it was from the epidural. It could very well be. Before going to a neurologist, see your regular doc and tell them the pain and episodes happened after you had the epidural.

i DO totally agree with kmacdona, you need to have this pain evaluated by your doc and possibly be sent for an MRI.this could possibly reveal the probelm depending on whther there IS indeed damage or even scar tissue that may be irritating the surrounding spinal nerves.or the doc could have hit the nerve and damaged it in some way,in which case the pain would be considered neuropathic.this really does need to be fully evaled tho.unfortunetly, alot of women end up with this type of problem after having the epidural blocks done.hopefully this will be some how treatable.good luck and please keep us posted on what you find out.Marcia
