Can anyone tell me how you knew you had diabetes? I usually post on the bipolar board and take lithium (which makes you excessively thirsty, frequent urination, etc. - similar to the symptoms of diabetes from what I've read). Does anyone know of a test that you can do yourself to determine whether your blood glucose level is abnormal or do you need to get the blood test (fasting/glucose) done to tell for sure?

If you want to check for yourself, find a friend with diabetes and borrow their glucose monitor. Check your fasting, but also check 2 hours after you've eaten to determine how your body handles food.

I'm not sure if your local pharmacy can test your blood glucose but you can try and ask them. They do it where i live (Faroe Islands) and in most Scandinavian countries, I don't know where you're from so i'm not sure if they do it where you live. So i only wish you luck and hope you don't have diabetes. :)
