View Full Version : How many days do you take injections for?

This will be my second cycle on Bravelle with IUI. I'm asking this question because i think my husband will be away for some of those days. i called my doctors and of course, they said if you're not sure about timing, then to wait until next month. it's frustrating because i may only miss it by a day or so. And, we just had to take a month break in between cycles as is typical with Bravelle cycles.

i do know that my dose of Bravelle will be increased at the beginning of cycle (last time, doctor was conservative and then bumped up). Does an increase in dose also equal an earlier IUI? does these questions even make sense?

i'm just trying to decide whether to even start the meds when period begins (in a few days). i don't want to inject myself for nothing.

thanks for any advice.

Can they freeze the semen? I've heard some clinics will do this in cases like these.
I'm not sure if the increased dose means an earlier IUI. I just thought it made more follicles and such, but I haven't experienced an increase in injectables yet.
Good luck.

This is my first cycle with injectibles and they actually gave me some ganirelix for two days (8 & 9) to prevent premature ovulation (not a problem I've had in the past, just new injectible meds, so wanted to give the follies time to get nice and big :) My last cycle (also had to take a few months off) they triggered on day 10 also (IUI on day 12) so I would think it's kind of a toss up. If dh is going to be gone between day 10-14 probably would wait (though I know that's not what you want to do) unless they could freeze like Heyknack suggested. Ask your RE what your options are. I can say by yesterday my tummy was about tired of being poked and if there is a chance he won't be here, between the expense and pain......I'd probably wait. Good luck to you no matter what you decide.

thank you for the replies. I think I know that I should just skip this cycle, but always hoping that someone will tell you something to convince you otherwise. you know how long a month seems, especially when you feel like you're not working towards something. I suppose when I'm injecting myself, i feel like i'm doing something to help make it happen. it's been 2 years for me, with 2 m/c.

I haven't gotten AFyet, but it's only day 28. should get it today or tomorrow. of course, i took hpt this am, but BFN. If I do get AF - say tomorrow, DH will be away for days 6 - 10. see how close it's cutting it? I am just hoping that maybe my AF will be delayed for a few more days, though unlikely.

thanks for your replies though. i appreciate all feedback, even if it's not what i want to hear.:)
