Hi, I am a 40 year old woman who has had OCD since I was little. I do the counting, rituals, re-thinking, etc. I do so many, it is hard to keep up with. Anyway, I tried Paxil with no luck and now I was on Zoloft 100 mg. I just went to a Psychiatrist rather then a doctor that does not know much about it, and he said 100 mg.'s is way too low for severe OCD. He instead gave me Tramadol which is a pain reliever but states he has a very high success rate with it. I was just wondering if anyone has heard of that before? I will certainly try it, I have to wait til the Zoloft is out of my system though. Thanks for any info.

Hey Kim
I never came across Tramadol being used for OCD (maybe somebody else here has who could help you out) but I found 100mg Zoloft quite effective. My OCD is quite severe also, and has been a chronic problem. I was originally on a higher dose, but found 100mg stabilized it quite well.
All the things I've read about Zoloft suggest that it tends to only require a lower dose when it comes to OCD, especially compared with other SSRI's. I guess it is dependant on the individual though.
