I have had the pill injection (Depo Provera)..and everyone (so far) has given negative responses about how it makes u gain weight and how terrible it has made their life.
I am completely distraught. I can' eat after hearing that. I must lose weight to prevent this from happening!!!
I cant get fat.. I will lose everything ....I am holding back my tears...why did noone tell me that this would happen??!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know this post doesnt really fit into this category...but has anyone been on Depo and not gained weight??????

I've never been on it, but I do know that how it affects you could be completly different than how it affects anyone else hon. Avoiding food isn't going to make things better, but in fact will make things worst. Em, you have been making progress lately and I don't want to see you go downhill. Take care sweetie.

So sorry you're feeling so anxious about having taken this drug. Please do NOT resort to starving yourself in order to prevent weight gain... chances are you won't gain a thing anyway.

What do you feel you will lose if you gain weight?

Sorry I don't have any information on that particular drug for you... call me naive but I have to admit I don't even know what it is! What IS Depo Provera???

If I were you, from my experience with the shot.....I would discontinue it after this specific term.

Oh, p.s. It isn't gonna kill you, I know I just made it sound horrible there, but it does mess with your body. It isn't the healthiest form of birth control!

I have been on depo for two years now and have not had any problems gaining weight because of it. I dont have my period because of the depo, which gives me a lot more energy (i usually was anemic). It is definatly nice not having to worry about taking a pill everyday, and all the other stuff.
And I have read the info that if people do gain weight, it is very minimal, which may not seem minimal to someone with an ED, but it is. And it isnt worth starving yourself over, just go out and enjoy the depo.

Thanks to everyone elses replies as well. I am going back into starve mode. I seem to go througha circle of eating not so bad n then reducing my intake etc.

Ashlee- Depo Provera is the pill injection (contraception) - it stops your period..u have to have one every three months to keep this going though..
