Hello. I have heard mention of tight control. I am wondering what the specific numbers one would try to achieve to be in tight control. Thanks!!!

Thanks!!! vikingirl 10-25-2006, 02:27 PM Hi there...tight control for a Diabetic would mean always having your fasting & pre-meal glucose levels be between 4-7mmol/L (72-126mg/dL) and post meals levels (checked at the 2 hour mark) be between 5-10(90-180). Also an A1C of <7%. They keep lowering the numbers though, so it's apt to change again :-) Cheers, - Vikingirl LauraBow 10-25-2006, 03:08 PM That certainly wouldn't be tight control for me. I would freak out if I got a 180 reading two hours after a meal. I rarely get one of 150 when I eat something I am not familiar with, but usually I am under 120 at two hours and under 110 prior to meals. Lately, with exercising at the YMCA and carb control, I am averaging under 110 two hours after a meal--usually between 95 and 106. I am also using cinnamon and I am not sure if it is that or the increased exercise that has greatly lowered my readings, but I am much inclined to think it is the exercise. |
