I've been hearing more and more about Vitamin D supplementation as a
possible preventative measure for those at high risk of getting M.S. (i.e. my kids)...... I'm even reading about it in some of the mainstream journals.
Anyone hearing about this from their docs. I'm just having my kids take a couple each day.
I think they are finding low levels of Vitamin D in people with autoimmune diseases, in particular M.S. That is why M.S. is less prevalent in sunny climates (they are getting their Vitamin D via sunlight)

My neurologist is taking vit D levels on a lot of her patients and is pushing it big time. It needs to be vit D3. You should take about 800mg to 1200mg a day. It's suppose to help reduce risk of about 20 different cancers. It is also suppose to help reduce risk of MS. I've been taking it for about 2 yrs. I started having symptoms of MS 8 months ago. My vit D levels were on the high side where they should be. I don't have any visible lesions yet so maybe it's helping. It's suppose to also help slow down progression of MS. I don't know how much children should take but the RDA is suppose to be changing the recommendations and levels in multi vit for children are going to go up (who knows when).

Thanks for your reply......It helps to know the proper dose range..
Wouldn't that be something if a Vitamin can stop the progression of this disease.
I heard it could help prevent auto-immune diseases, that is interesting they think it can prevent cancers too.
Appreciate the info!
