Do HCG numbers have to double in a 48 hour period? [Archive]

I'm a little concerned even though the nurse said it was fine. I have always heard they should double every 2 days. Mine were 740 on Monday and then Wednesday they were only 1047. Is she just being nice so that I don't worry? Or should I be concerned?

Don't worry, your HCG should double every 48-72 hours not exactly 48 hours. It also depends how far along you are in your Pg, the internet gives rough ranges of values that are 'healthy' for certain weeks. As long as your HCG level has increased that is a good sign and I hope you are going back for another blood test soon to put your mind at rest!

Actually, the nurse called me yesterday and said my number were 740 and 1474. Woo Hoo! I felt MUCH better!
