After months of denture frustrations (posted whole story previously but won't go into it now), I think I finally see light at end of tunnel. I had a complete new set - upper and lower - of dentures made. They seem to fit ok with just a few minor spots that irritate and I'm going back tonight for another adjustment. My problem lies with the gumline part of the upper denture. My old upper denture gum part extended all the way up to just under my top lip and the little split in the front of the denture could not been seen. On the new denture, the gum part stops about 1/16" under my lip. Doesn't sound like a lot of space but it makes the split sit lower in my mouth and if I smile very broadly, it can be seen. Hope this makes sense.....denture wearers should understand what I'm talking about. Tonight I want to ask the dentist if the lab can just add a little more gum part and move the split up a bit. My hubby is not sure they can do that....thinks maybe it would change the way the denture fits (which is pretty good now). I don't see why adding acrylic or whatever they use for the gum area to the very top of denture would change anything. Also I feel a little more gum area would add to the stability of the denture. Any thoughts?
