I had two root canals yesterday (not my first) and woke up this morning to a terrible ache. I can touch my tooth with my tongue but if I apply any pressure, it is extremely painful. I can't bite down either. I called the endodontist and was told to come in and have the filling shaved down a bit. That this was probably the issue and that it would get worse over time. Sounds good to me.
My concern it that I am going on a trip in two weeks and want to make sure there are no further complications. I went on a trip last year and had tried to have a recommended root canal before the trip. The endodontist said I wasn't ready for one. Well, apparently, the cabin pressure from my plane ride caused the tooth to flare and I was miserable the entire trip, and had an emergency root canal the day I got home. I wanted to avoid a similar scenario this time and knew I needed these two teeth fixed. So, I had them done yesterday. With today's development, I just want to make sure I have the entire issue resolved.
If I were to get an infection from the procedure, how soon would that show up? Should I ask for antibiotics just in case something happens while I'm on my trip? I am going on a cruise so won't have access to a hospital let alone my endodontist.
Thank you.
