Hey!
Does anyone know if it is safe to get a flu shot if you may or may not be pregnant? My company is paying for us all to have flu shots, but it has to be done at a certain location TODAY. So I pretty much have to decide like in an hour if I want to get one. I am pretty sure it is safe but I wanted to hear other opinions as well!
Thanks a bunch-Megan

I have heard that it is safe to have a flu shot. You might call your regular doctor and ask to make certain. :)

When I was preg. with my son, I HAD to get it, the doctor strongly recommended it, I would try, but call the doctor just to check. You are reminding me to call and get an appt. to get one too!:D

I tried to get one yesterday as they were doing them at work. They wouldn't give me one as a policy they won't give them to pregnant people. It had taken me so long to decide I was actually going to do it by then. He said there wasn't much data on flu shots and unborn babies so they don't want to risk it. He said his wife was pregnant and her dr won't do it either.
I am totally confused as I have done a bit of research and it seems it's for the best as the complications if you get the flu could be much worse for the baby than the risk from the flu shot. Even the CDC site recommends it.
I'm going to talk to my doctor and see what he says. I have lung capacity issues to so am more at risk if I get pneumonia or something than the average Jane.
Hopefully your company will let you decide if you want it or not.

I keep getting mixed signals as to what I should do:confused:
Maybe I will just wait until I am sure....even though I'll have to pay for it myself at that point. Oh well. I am hearing both that it is fine, and that its fine as long as you are in the second or third trimesters.
Thanks everyone for all of your advice!
