Question is i want to start taking creatine again to further enhance my gains but creatine has always had high sugar added to stimulate insulin response to uptake the creatine into the muscle cells. Is there any low sugar creatine types that like yrs ago (1990's) that Muscle Media magazine (EAS) sold with low sugar and high Lipoic Acid which is supposed to shuttle creatine across musclecell membranes.
Just asking cause i always try to keep sugar/carbs at low glycemic for health longevity and has any one any experience with these...Do they work or even sell them any more.. Any feedback from all knowlegable....

Ya dude it is definitely still around. Spiking insulin levels definitely helps to get the creatine in the muscles, but your desire to not spike your insulin via glucose which is what most creatine supplements add is understandable. Alpha Lipoic Acid has an insulin-like effect when taking in conjucture with creatine so your stratagey is sound. The only supplement company I buy from anymore is AST....they still sell straight micronized creatine monohydrate. [removed]

Thanks for the info Bro...I figured you'd be the one answering this question. I researched AST Micronized Creatine and how its better than regular Creatine. Looking at the ingrediants it shows 0 g of sugars/carbs so is correct...?? And if so how does the cells uptake this without insulin as the carrier into the cells...or maybe your supposed to add a sugary drink to it....

The reason micronized creatine is more effective is that it more easily shuttled into the cells. As you probably know creatine is not water soluble. It will simply breakdown in water into the waste product creatinine. Micronizing creatine leads to a more pure creatine with a greater surface area that allows more creatine to be grabed by the tiny little recpetors on the cell wall that are responsible for bringing the creatine inside the cell.
It is definitely more effective to take creatine in conjuncture with glucose, however, since you don't want to do this take it with the highest GI food or beverage that you are willing to use. I would also suggest taking creatine in a 3 day on 3 day off cycle. Loading for 3 days followed by 3 days completely off continually.
