Hi,im new here and im not too good at things like this but things have started to get quite desperate for my dad who had a stroke 2 years ago.He is only 55(53 when had stroke) and still has a few working years left in him.Really im after advice. He has made a full recovery exept for a bad limp due to his left leg not fully healed so weigh this up:55 years old, a stroke victim with a limp hes not gonna stand in in a list of other job applicants is he?he was working for his son in law at the time of the stroke which was quite heavy manual work,so he cant return to that type of work but he badly needs an income.Hes had no financial support at all from the government so now hes fallen behind badly with his mortgage repayments as is being threatened with eviction.all in all its not been a good 2 years for him.Is there any sort of allowence he should be getting?i find it hard to belive that a person who gets ill whos been working all his life, paying his taxes & national insurance is not getting any support from the government,he feels that theres no one to turn to for help.which is why ive posted here.Hope somone can give us some advice.

Hi,
Did you try calling the social security office. If it's determined he cannot work at his old job, and does not qualify for anything else, he may be able to go on Social Security Disability.

If they feel he doesn't qualify, they may be able to offer suggestions.
