I worry and over think everything to death, to the point that I'm constantly uptight, have a headache, and moody.

My husband seems to think it may be ocd. I know I suffer from anxiety and have for years but how does a dr tell if you have ocd?

My husband says I create things to worry about and if I have nothing then I find something just to obsess over. I know I over obsess about money and my health, but is that enough for an ocd diagnosis? I go to see a new therapist on Nov. 13. I never know exactly what to tell them cause when I verbalize everything I sound down right freaky to myself.

Thanks,
Julie

Worrying alot isn't a indication of OCD. There are alot of chronic worriers who do not have OCD.

If you found yourself counting to ease apprehensions, re-doing things until they felt just right, had reoccurant intrusive morbid thoughts and impulses,
or wash your hands over and over, then I would say you definately have
OCD. It seems most people even if they don't have OCD do at times get obsessive or compulsive about somethings, but when the things I posted above fill your day then I would say you had OCD.

Obessions are usaully intrusive violent thoughts or just weird off the wall thoughts. These strange thoughts bring about a terrible apprehension in which you feel the need to do something (a ritual/compulsion) to ease the
anxiety.

Obession = A fear of being contaminated. Compulsion = Washing hands over and over.

Obession = Thought to kill your child in a cruel violent way and picturing the violent act. Compulsion = Telling yourself over and over, "I would never do that!"

Obsession = When reading the last line of a chapter it didn't feel rightly done.
Compulsion = Re-reading until it feels right and eases the strange feeling of doing it wrong.

I hope you don't have OCD, but if you do don't worry there is help when its battled rightly, or should I say not battled at all.

Jeremy is quite right.

It sounds more along the lines of chronic anxiety, like Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) or something similar, which commonly involves excessive worries about health and finances, but thats just a stab. Diagnostic criteria for OCD is quite specific, and is based on a doctor's observation of your behaviour. Its always best to speak to your doctor if you are concerned. Hey, you may sound freaky to yourself but not to anyone else. :) Its great you are going to see a therapist, maybe you'll get to the bottom of this.
