ML300 10-29-2006, 10:18 AM I just had my 2nd (and last) IUI yesterday (10/28) and was curious if anyone else was starting or in 2ww. I know I could use the "company":) Michelle Sponsor ML300 10-29-2006, 01:29 PM blueeyedsmarty - I wish I had an answer! But actually, last time, I was really busy the first week and had an out of town trip planned for the first weekend so that went by real fast. However, the 2nd week was a different story. I don't know if you work but I'm in the legal field and found that the weekends were the most difficult because there was more time on my hands to think about it. I did use a HPT to check on whether my trigger shot was out of my system about 10 days after and, some how, found the strenght not to use another HPT until the day before my test date. But even "checking" on the trigger shot depressed me so I'm going to find the strength not to do that this time...hopefully. For some reason, this time, I find that I'm more relaxed about the whole thing and will just pray that we get a BFP in 2 weeks. We have a running joke in our family that everything major with us has always happened in Oct/Nov.: we met, both pgs and one mcs, bought and moved into our house, Hurricane Rita evacutation, family deaths, etc. So, in staying with that theme, we pray this might be our time. What was your IUI protocol? How many follicles did you have? I've been very fortunate - drug wise - I have only taken a relatively new drug treatment of 25 mg Femara and have had really good cycles and follicles (4 last time - 2 good ones & 2 bigs this time) now we just hope DH's swimmers find their way!! LOL My husband and I had decided that this would be our last attempt. I know some might think I'm crapping out too soon and who knows, maybe there will be a 3rd time but, we set limits before we started. I'm 42 and my DH is 35, both healthy and have no diagnosed fertility issues other than probably my age, we've had 2 mcs in the past 5 yrs and have ttc for approx 1 yr. Hopefully, we just need a little "chaparoning":) to get the job done. We both would love a child but, at the same time, we're realistic that we're in the lower % rate for success. Keep me posted and I'll be wishing you a big BFP. Michelle ledfoot 10-29-2006, 04:02 PM Hi ML, although I'm not on the 2ww I just wanted to say I hope it goes well for you.I am an older tryer myself (now 41) nearing the end of this rocky road of infertility we have been travelling,me also for over 5 years although I havent had any mcs,so sorry you went through that heartbreak. Have you ever looked into accupuncture as there is much evidence that it helps improve implantation and maintain pregnancy, there are a couple of threads at the moment which discuss it. Hope the 2ww goes quickly for you and wishing you all the luck in the world! BJ's Mama 10-29-2006, 04:40 PM I'm so glad you posted this. I was looking through to see if anyone else was enduring this mind racing period at the same time. I am 3 dpiui and going crazy. This is only our second attempt, but due to the cost, not sure how many more we can do. Anything to stop thinking about it. I think the weekends are the worst. Too much time on my hands. DH and my 6 y/o are gone this weekend so just me and doing anything to keep myself busy. (Got his closet and my kitchen painted so at least I'm being productive right :) I know first cycle.......it seemed like the longest two weeks EVER! With your cycle, when do you test? ML300 10-29-2006, 05:48 PM Kay - good to hear from you - thanks for the good thoughts. How are you going? Aren't you going to a u/s tomorrow to check your follies? I'll keep you in my prayers that your appt. goes well. Thanks for the suggestion to check out the threads on accupuncture, I'll check them out. BJ's Mama - I'll test on the 12th and hope for a BFP. I guess you'll be a few days ahead of me. Maybe we'll both be blessed this time. How many follies did you have? I mentioned early how everything happens to DH & I during Oct/ Nov. However, I forgot to mention the latest "funny" (probably why I'm more positive this go round too). My RE is about 70 miles East of us. So, for convenience, we drive over the night before & get a hotel room then head back home after the appt. Well, yesterday, we decided to hang around and go to a few new places there, go to the zoo, get some lunch, etc. Suddenly, my car makes this awful noise - something in the transmission broke!!!! The dealership there took it in. However, they can't fix it until next Thur and all the rental car places were closed !! They were great and gave us a "loaner". Needless to say, I pretty much decided we'd just buy a new car. DH stunned me by saying "everything happens for a reason - maybe we are suppose to get a bigger car....." So they're crunching numbers for us. Hopefully this was another good sign ! ledfoot 10-29-2006, 06:59 PM I hope your car trouble was a good sign, and its said that God moves in mysterious ways. :) Thanks for your prayers for my appt next week, its to discuss with my RE why my last IVF had to be cancelled,I had a serious lack of follies/eggs which has been concerning me as thay are pretty essential for what we are trying to achieve,so I dont know if there is still hope for me. BJ,Good Luck to you too! I know its sheer hell, but hope the 2ww doesnt drive you too crazy. BJ's Mama 10-29-2006, 09:51 PM I keep reading that people are "scheduled for bw" post iui. I've never been scheduled?? I go in for the iui, they give me a bag w/instructions and hpt and I'm out the door. F/u w/intercourse day after iui, start progesterone 2 dpiui and pee on a stick in two weeks. If it comes out pos, then call us and we'll do blood check. Is it customary to do the beta test (which I'm assuming is the blood pg test)? I'm sorry, just confused. ML300 10-29-2006, 10:18 PM I'm sure that each physician or clinic operates differently. For example, out of all of these posts, I seem to be the only person who is prescribed Femara once on cd3 and nothing else (other than hcg shot) because, in me, it has sufficiently stimulated follicle growth for iui. However, I do have an u/s (check follies) & some bw done 7 days after the Femara to check my hormone levels. Other than that, I have my iui, take a hpt in 14 days. If BFN call when AF starts. If BFP go in for blood work. At 14 dpiui, a hpt should detect any hcg you would have from a pregnancy. If it was neg. then I, personally, can't see the expense of bw. However, some women might feel bw is more accurate. Also, depending on the treatment/procedure, some ladies might have to have more blood work than others to check for certain levels of particular hormones at precise times in their cylces. All in all, from what I've been told, there's not much to do or to be done other than sit & wait between iui and day 14. The doctors have put the swimmers where they need to be, now they just have to sweet talk that egg! At this point, it's in God's hands. What kinds of meds were you on prior to iui? Here's to positive thinking!! Michelle BJ's Mama 10-30-2006, 08:18 PM Blueyed - This is only my second round iui, but both times they instructed to pos 14 dpiui. BFN last time, but the way I understand it, 14 days should be more than enough. I have to test on the 9th and af isn't due until the 11th. They must know something we dont? Maybe the test they give has a stronger sensitivity? I honestly don't know. Tried to research it last time, but still unknown. Good luck to you! lahc1 10-30-2006, 08:41 PM Hi Michelle, I had my first IUI on 10/25 and have to wait until 11/9 to find out. The wait is definately hard. It's nice to have company:) Good luck and wishing you a positive! Lori vanessa727 10-31-2006, 12:01 AM Hello Everyone! This is my first post, so bare with me. I am 23 yrs old and have been TTC for 2yrs. I am in the 2ww. I had my first IUI on 10/21 and this has to be the longest 2 weeks I have had to wait through. I also took 100mg of Clomid from cd3 to cd7. Had a + O test and went in for my first IUI, which came with pretty painful cramping. No signs yet, just have sore bbs and very moody. But that could just be from the stress of waiting! AF is expected 11/5 - 11/7. Good luck to all of you, and I hope we get some BFP this time around! ML300 10-31-2006, 12:06 PM Happy Holloween Ladies ! Welcome Vanessa & Lori. Hope everyone is doing well, looks like we have a few tests in the coming weeks. Wouldn't it be wild if we all got BFPs :) !!! Positive thinking and lots of praying, that's for sure. I'm glad to hear you are all doing well. I'm not "spazing" with nerves so far - of course, I'm only like 4dpiui and, fortunately, between the car problems the day of iui, debating about buying a new one, financing, etc. haven't had a bunch of time to dwell on it. Well, we bought the new car last night. As soon as we finished the paperwork, DH said, "well, this probably means we're pregnant" LOL Hopefully so, that would be just such a blessing. I've started taking progestone at night again. It's a precaution but I hate the way it makes me feel. Not bad, just bloated around the middle. Of course, anything to make a happy environment - :D Needless to say, I'll live with the bloating for a BFP. I do have a confession though, I'm having a really really hard time quitting smoking. I've cut WAY back. I think it's mental. Last time, when I knew I was pg, I put them down immediately with no problem and I know I will do the same this time. However, it's this in-between that's difficult. And I know that it would be so much better if I just stopped right now but, I'm not going to lie, it's hard to do. I've decided though that I'm not buying any more. So, once what I have is gone, that's it (only a pack + 3 cigs). If anybody has suggestions or in the same situation, I'd like to hear. Sticky Baby dust to all. Michelle TryN2BMommy 10-31-2006, 01:09 PM Hi Michelle  , I used the patch to quit smoking. I don't know if you can do this with fertility treatments or not, but it helped me significantly. I was afraid of using a high dosage, so I started right off at the lowest dosage, and it still helped. After a week, I even gave up the patches...FYI, I was a pack a day smoker for years before I quit, so if it worked for me... Good luck to you whatever you try! Holly~ lahc1 10-31-2006, 01:32 PM Hi Michelle, Thanks for the welcome. I had to take progesterone in the past although now that I'm on clomid I do not. I took vaginal suppositories though. It was a bit messy and you had to wear a panty liner but other than that I had no side affects. I also read that suppositories are a bit better to keep the hormone levels constant than the progesterone pill. If you feel that bad on it, you may want to ask your doctor about trying that out. Just thought I'd share my experience. Baby dust to all! Lori BJ's Mama 10-31-2006, 05:48 PM I am also on the suppositories and I think they make me feel like crap too. Really bloated, a bit on the witchy side and for some reason this time I can't stop eating. (Not sure if that part is the nerves or the hormones :) I haven't brought myself to quit smoking either. We quit for a few weeks several months ago and as soon as af came (yet again) I picked em up. No excuse I know, but we agreed that as soon as the test shows positive, we're done. We're not kidding ourselves though either. If it doesn't show pos in the next few months, we'll have to take a break for a while and at that point we'll quit. I just can't bear the thought of quiting when I know we're in the middle of a VERY stressful situation (if that's what you want to call it). It's probably the hardest thing I've had to do. Trying to cut back, but haven't made it to quiting yet. Let me know how it works for you and if you have any pointers to share please! Kim vanessa727 10-31-2006, 06:30 PM Hello Ladies  I have a question. I had my first IUI on 10/21 (CD15) and had major cramps the first day and minor ones after that, but also was bleeding for 4dpiui. Is that the way it was suppose to be? :dizzy: Now I am have sore bbs, no other syptoms. The only out of the ordinary thing I was not too sure about was that I have been having cramps right after bd and it will last for a whole day? Has anyone had that before? I could use all the help, never been pg! TTC our 1st! Thanks, and good luck to all    hockeybaby 11-01-2006, 12:18 AM I just had my second IUI today. I am now in the 2ww wait also. I am on Clomid and had an increase in my progesterone last month, so I am trying to keep positive. My DH had a low sperm count and he was put on Clomid also and his count actually tripled this month, so both of those made the dream seem a little more possible this month.:blob_fire Let's both think happy thoughts for each other! Keep all of us in the same 2ww updated! Baby dust your way! ML300 11-01-2006, 11:15 AM Vanessa - Althought I've just had my 2nd iui, I really haven't had any negative side effects. Well, other than the 1st hcg shot which made me feel about 90 for 3 days. However, I have been told that cramping after the iui procedure is normal for some people. you've got to remember that your cervix basically was opened by a foreign object and your uterus wasn't real happy about that visitor either. I've been told that spotting can also occur. If it was "bleeding" that you experienced, you should contact your RE's office and check that with them. Kim - thank you! I'm so glad I'm not alone with my addiction and the bloated feeling. I feel so guilty that I can't just stop right now. I know it would be better for me and my RE said it would help fertility but, I just can't let go. I did as soon as I found out I was pg the last time - no questions, no problems. But as soon as I found out that the pg had terminated, I reached for them again. We'll get through this!! only a few more days and another week will have passed. Are you making it o.k.? Hockeybaby - What good news about DH's SC and welcome to the dreaded 2ww ! I'll test around 11/12 so we're pretty close to each other. Baby Dust to All Michelle jojo118 12-05-2007, 02:49 PM good luck.. dw and had our 2nd iui on 12-01-07 we actually had two back to back.. 1st count was 9.9 mill after wash and the next day 12.9 mill it beats first iui last month dh count 3.3mill after wash.. well im on 2ww wait feel bloated and a little cramp. doc said i got two good eggs hope # ok what was your numbers?? good luck kjmrfld 12-05-2007, 02:53 PM I'm not quite in on the 2ww yet, but I just wanted to wish everyone who is the best of luck this cycle!!!!!
