What exactly is a chemical pregnancy and what causes it. Sorry, dumb question I know, but keep reading about it and have no idea what it is.
Thanks all!

A chemical pregnancy is another way of saying very early miscarriage... most often it involves the egg fertilizing but not implanting. HCG numbers might be very low, but enough to be positive early on (in a blood test), but then will quickly decrease after that.

ps - not a dumb question!!;)

 I had a chemical pregnancy and my RE did confirm that since I had a positive HCG (even though low) that my little one did implant, it just didn't hang on. I had a positive of 9.5 on a Sat. Then on a Monday, it was negative. Normally, many women don't get positive hpts because the hcg is so low. And many women can have a chemical pregnancy and never know it because they may have never gotten a blood test and just got a late period and perhaps a negative hpt. It's not a dumb question.:nono:
