I was wondering what is the lowest amount of HCG that has to be present in blood, to be a positive pregnancy test??? Is it 5? Also, if you only have HCG when you are pregnant why wouldn't a 3 be a pos. as well?

Having an HCG level of less than 5 is considered negative for pregnancy because levels in that range are not sustainable. According to several websites I visited, HCG levels above 25 are considered positive for pregnancy. Levels under 5 are considered negative. Obviously there is the range from 5-24 that is not accounted for.
