I was on Risperdal for three months, feeling worse instead of better, I quit cold turkey. I know you are not supposed to do this, but while I was on it I was (and still am) Lactating. For two weeks i have lost 15 pounds, cant eat, anxiety through the roof, feeling like i am pregnant again (although it is not possible). I've been to the er- they said it was the stomach bug. I went to my family doctor, who said i am having extreme panic attacks, then i went to my psychiatrist who put me on another medication to stop the lactation, and sent out for bloodwork on a hormone called prolactin. He thinks it is high. Anyone else experience this hell? How much longer will it last, i have missed a week of work, and possibly another week. If anyone can relate please write me.

Hey

I havent had anyone personal experience with Risperdal, but when I quit Zoloft cold turkey it was a nightmare for quite a while. They say a few weeks withdrawal at the most, but it was a couple of months until I felt right.

I'm pretty confident it will settle down. Unfortunately, these psychoactive drugs are more powerful than we realize and it can take time for your body to readjust.

Hi! Could it be possable that your re-experiencing the symtoms the risperdal has been fighting off while you were taking it?[personally,i have never heard of withdrawls from that medication]

Hi....my daughter is on Risperdal 1.5mgs for around 4 months and started lactating....the doctor wants her to stop it and I recall reading that you should taper yourself off of it or have bad effects. How much were you on?? I am very concerned about just taking her off of it since we tapered up on it it only makes sense to do the same rather than just going cold turkey!!

Your post only verifies my suspicions and fears. Please let me know how much you were on. Thanks.

I was on 1mg. But also taking Cymbalta, and Seroquel, so maybe the combination in my system. I am wondering though if it started with the stomach bug and i got anxiety after that, but i have no idea. It is still with me but it is subsiding. If you daughter has to ever go off of it TAPER! SLOOOOWLY!
