Hi All,
Just to give a little background on myself, I am 33 yo and have been married for 10 years this month. My husband and I have no children, and realized that we would not get pregnant with out help early on in our marriage. I decided about 4 months ago to go to my OB/GYN and get started. He then referred me to my RE who i have seen on several times. I have had the standard fertility tests (sonogram, HSG, bloodwork). I have been diagnosed with PCOS. They also found a uterine septum during my HSG. I have since gone through a laproscopy and hysteroscopy to resection it and remove a small amount of endometreosis. I am to start my clomid cycle today, and was curious if there is anyone out there with similar problems to mine. The doc says my tubes & ovaries look great, and now that my uterine septum has been corrected, I should be able to get pregnant, but I find this difficult to believe, as it has been 10 years. I want a baby so bad, but am terrified of getting my hopes up to much. Any thoughts?

Just wanted to say hi and welcome! I'm pretty new here, but I've found so much support from reading the posts, the ladies are very positive and understanding. I have pcos, endo, and chronic anovulation, and dh and I are very much hoping to be parents some day-hopefully it will come soon! It sounds like you are definitely on the right track by going to an re. The only advice I can give you is to stay proactive about your treatment and don't ever be afraid to ask the doc questions if you need to. I'm not a medical person and found alot of the meds, schedules etc. to be a little confusing at first, but I know it will be so worth it in the end :) Best of luck to you! emily

Thanks for your warm welcome. I appreciate it.
Have you had the surgery for the Endo? My sister had it, and it was SEVERE, all the way into her bowels. She is now preg with twins...naturally.
Have you been on any of the fertility drugs? I am day two of taking the clomid pills. I have not had any side effects as of yet. I have an appointment with my RE on Wednesday for an ultra sound. I am not really sure what exactly they are looking for. We shall see.

Hi there
I haven't had the endo surgery yet, the dr suggests it every time I go but so far I have been too scared. I think I'm going to schedule it in Jan or Feb though as my symptoms haven't improved and the dr said it could help w/my infertility problems. That is encouraging news about your sister.
I have taken lots of fertility drugs, 8 cycles Clomid and progesterone, and 3 cycles Metformin and Letrozole and also had the hsg with no results, but don't let that get you down. Everyone responds differently to Clomid, a few of my friends took it and it was all they needed to help them out :)
Good luck with your ultrasound. If you have pcos they may be going to look at your ovaries. An ultrasound was how I was "officially" diagnosed with pcos. It wasn't bad at all to have done though. Has your dr prescribed any meds for your pcos? Keep posting and let us know how you're doing  em

Welcome!! I am new here too! I will be starting Clomid on Sunday after having a laparotomy (right ovary removed d/t severe endo) and 4 months of lupron. We have been TTC for 3+ years. I'm going to have an IUI for the first time if I have good follicles. I have tried clomid a couple of times before the diagnosis of the endo. I didn't have any side effects from it, but have a friend who says it made her a "B**ch on wheels". ;)
Just a guess from your screen name, but are you a Grey's Anatomy fan?

Emily,
I would definately recommend the surgery. I had the hysterscopy and laproscopy done, and it was a sinch. My sister says hers was pretty easy as well. She said that she felt better immediately, and I am 90% sure that is why she was able to get pregnant ON ACCIDENT! :-)
My doc prescribed Metformin for the PCOS, but that is it.
Thanks for the encouragement, I appreciate it.

Hi safallow,
Thanks! I have heard that Clomid can turn you into a bit of a psyco :-).
I am wondering how that is going to work for the old baby making mambo Hee Hee.
I am sorry about your ovary. Once you start the Clomid, will they bring you in for a ultrasound to look at the follicles? What exactly is lupron?
You are correct I am addicted to that show, and am pretty sure it is the best show on TV.

SGH junkie,
Lupron is a med that throws you into menopause temporarily by shutting down your ovarian function. They use it during IVF cycles to start your cycle, but I used it for tx of endo. They were unable to remove all of my endo b/c of all the bowel involvement I had. The Lupron is supposed to shrink down the remaining endo. Before my laparotomy, both of my tubes were occluded. Since the lupron therapy, I have had a repeat HSG and both tubes are now open. I will have a day 14 u/s and then hopefully an IUI two days later if I have appropriately sized follicles.
I love Grey's too. Are you ever on the ABC boards? I read there more than I post, but my screen name there is "ladybg".
Good luck with your clomid!!!!!!!!!!

SGH-Oh my Gosh! I cannot believe it! I have had almost the EXACT same problems that you have! I had a HUGE uterine septate, too! I mc because of it, had a D & C. Then, started seeing a RE. Since then, I had a laparoscopy & hysteroscopy. (after many US's and a HSG) During the lap/hyst I had the uterine septate ressected and multiple cysts and stage IV endometriosis removed. I got pregnant again this past May, but mc very early. I have recently been diagnosed with PCOS with my main issue my Progesterone being too low to keep a pregnancy. I just finished my first cylce of Clomid, and received my first "trigger" injected of Novarel (hcg hormone, 10,000 units) on Monday. We are TTC naturally, so we'll see what happens. As far as my moods, I was pretty bad before because my hormones are so off, so I have never felt better! (except for pelvic pain which I think is from the meds making my follies grow) My ultrasound Monday showed 3 large follies, so let's pray something great happens! I just can't believe how much we have in common! Baby dust to everyone!

Hi everyone, I have PCOS, polyps and DH has a minor male factor problem. I took Clomid 9 times and responded 3 times to the 50 mg and then had to be moved to the 100mg when 50mg stopped working. Clomid made me VERY moody. It took 2 years but I am now 24 weeks pregnant with a little girl thanks to Clomid. I was supposed to have a D&C to remove the polyps but instead got pregnant the month before the surgery :-) There is hope! Tons of baby dust to everyone!

safallow,
That is awesome news about your tubes being open. I will be hoping for your follicles to be in good shape. I have an appointment on Wed to see if the clomid is working. I am really not sure how they can tell, but we shall see. Infertility is the ultimate bummer, you are given hope and then it is dashed, then hope again. Very tiring.
Yes, I am a lurker on the ABC boards, I have only posted a few times my sn is Best_on_TV_GA. New eppie tonight, I am pumped.

I also had the lap/hyst, it was not too bad. The worst part was the bowel prep, YUCK. It is very uplifting to see that you have been able to get pregnant, that definately gives me hope. My DH and I are TTC naturally as well, I really don't want to have to try IUI, as it is way more expensive that the old-fashioned way if you get my drift ;) . I will be praying for you!!!! When will you know if it worked?

Well, I will know if it worked in a couple weeks. I am in the 2ww with Clomid and the Novarel injection. This is my first cycle with meds, and I had an ultrasound earlier this week. I had 3 follies, which is good for Clomid. I am supposed to either call my doctor when I start my period, or test on day 35 if I don't start. (hopefully I won't!) This is day 16 for me.

SGH,
Good episode last night.
As far as how they tell if the clomid is working, I have a always went in on either day 12 or 14 and they look at the lining of the uterus, and the size of the follicles to see how your body responded to the clomid. I think you need to have a least one follicle that is 12mm? But it's been a while since I had the u/s to remember. You said your appt. is on Wednesday? That's very exciting. My regular OBGYN doc always gave me an HCG trigger shot (Profasi) if I had follicle big enough to ensure that ovulated.
I have my day 14 u/s with my new RE on the 14th to see how I respond to my clomid this time.
Lots of baby dust!!

safallow,
I was a tiny bit disappointed last night, but overall it is still the best on TV. Yes, Wednesday, I am expecting the worst and hoping for the best. I don't want to get my hopes up too much. I am so obsessed with this process, I find myself on the internet exploring instead of working. If I don't watch it, I will be pg with no job  ! Which wouldn't be too bad really.
Let me know how it goes on the 14th!

:) As I read that, I felt I could have typed it myself...Boy do I know how you feel  . I am finding myself on these discussion boards more and more often as well - which that isn't a bad thing either since all you guys are so great :p .
By the way - I'm a huge Grey's fan too, but I missed last night's episode...I looked that up on the internet too...I really am going to lose my job ;) .

:D I hear ya. If I am not here, I'm lurking about ABC, but trying to keep it to lunch breaks, and when I am at a standstill.
