Does anyone that has been diagnosed with MS have problems with being hot all the time. I mean to the point where everybody at work is freezing and you have a fan on. I am only 37 years old so I don't believe that I am having hot flashes yet. Also, does anyone have bad lower back pain? I've been having this for about 6 months now. Just one more question. Does anyone, while sitting or standing, just all of a sudden have sharp pains in different places and muscle spasms? I feel like that I am second guessing myself as to what is going on with me. I feel that I can't get a doctor to believe me. They want to keep sending me to psychiatrist. I am really starting to second guess myself. Thanks for your inputs!!

SHAWN2426,
Thanks for your reply. Do you think that it is a symptom of MS to be hot all the time? I'm just concerned. Sometimes I wonder if I am making too much out of noticing different things. The only reason I am saying anything about the hot issue is because it is bothering me.

Hi Shellymay - Yep, I'm always hot too. I thoroughly understand. We have central air and I keep a window unit on in the bedroom. Can't remember what it's like to be cold. I agree with the others, it seems to come with the territory. Heat also exacerbates many MS symptoms. I have a lesion on my hypothalmus and one of the "things" it controls is body temperature according to my neuro. You might want to think about keeping a log. Take your temp a couple times a day for a month or so, like some people do with their bps. See what you come up with. If there are fluctuations, or above normal temps, you'll have a record of it. Unfortunately, the sharp pains and spasms are fairly indicative of MS too. Do you have a neuro? Sometimes you have to shop around and find one who is, at the very least, familiar with MS and will listen to what you have to say. I've had three great neuros and one absolute fool who thought I was having multiple mini strokes. In the meantime, try ice packs, when you're at home. I stuff one or two in my sports bra and go about my business. It looks funny, but works really well. Good luck and keep listening to your gut feelings.

grits216,
I can't thank you enough for replying. I enjoyed reading your post. It's nice to talk with someone going through the same thing that I am. Where is the hypothalmus? Well, I did have 4 neuros but they didn't want to listen to me so now I am asking my primary care physician to refer me to another neurologist that a friend of mine goes to that she says is great. It gets old when noone seems to want to listen to you. Thanks again for your reply. I will try taking my temperature during the day and see what happens.

Hi Again - I enjoyed reading your post too, as well as many of the others. I've only been on this site for a week now and it's been super informative. There's also a lot of comfort in knowing you're not alone in this battle with the MonSter. Let's see if I remember this correctly. The hypothalmus lies near the base/rear/primitive part of the brain. This area controls the involuntary reflexes - the things your body does automatically like breathing, heartbeat and in my case, regulating body temp. Here's a funny - I had my gall bladder removed a few years ago. They wouldn't release me because I kept running a temp of 100 - 101 at night. They were concerned with infection etc. I kept telling them this was normal for me and to contact my neuro. After the blood tests kept coming back normal, they finally called him and he confirmed what I had been saying. MS can be very unpredictable and ***arre in how and when it chooses to present. And, as you're learning (unfortunately), there are a lot of doctors and neuros who simply are not knowlegable about MS. I hope your friend's neuro will be the right one. If not, don't give up. Don't you just hate all the hoops the insurance companies force you to jump through? If you don't mind me asking, in what area of the country do you live? Take care and keep your chin up!:)

Michelle,
You may like to try taking few doses of Belladonna 30c and see if that helps. belladonna 30c is a herbal homeopathic remedy that has all the conditions you are facing and likely to help.

grits216,
Thanks for the info. I live in Carthage, North Carolina. Where do you live? That's a ***arre story. People need to learn to listen to us, we know our bodies better than anyone.
