i am thirty and every so often i get step throat, which leaves me taking antibiotics and taking time off work. it is very irritating, i have been getting episodes for over the last two years. my doctor has recommended a tonsillectomy and i think i should get it done but i believe that this might not prevent me getting infected so its hard to know what to do. i would appreciate anyones opinions.. i had two episodes in the last six weeks and have really had enough!!

I had strep every year at least once not to mention tonsillitis 3-4 times a winter. Since I had them removed, 35 years ago, I've not had a single case of strep. Just FYI...
