View Full Version : is this too underweight?

EmLittrell

Height: 5'1 1/2"
Weight: 90.5 lbs. currently, lowest has been 86

I have a question, is this too underweight, should I NOT be dieting? Cuz I THINK I am on the brink of developing a disorder cuz just gaining 1 pound freaks me out, and I feel miserable and depressed if I eat something that's not healthy.

Visit your MD. They will be in the best position to advise you. Make sure you tell them how you are feeling, physically and emotionally.

Take care

Hi there, I have been lurkin in this forum for a while now, and thought I would write something.

Your the same weight and height as me, and I look at myself and think everyone else is thinner than me, but the scales say I am underweight.
I am 24 and I was always a normal (if there is such a thing) weight of around 110 lbs, I am from England so I would say 7 and a half stone.
I had my first child 4 and a half years ago and I put myself under so much pressure readin all these magazines of how great these celebs looked weeks after givin birth, I thought I can do that! So I did, and it was a great feelin everyone sayin how great I looked after givin birth, I took it to far and went down to 92lbs, anyway 3 years later I had my second child, he is now 1, and here I am again, I lost all the baby weight immediately and now I am struggling to gain, I am now at 88lbs, and gettin extremely frustrated, I am not listenin to the voices sayin 'your tummy is stickin out' instead I am goin on what other celebs my height look like, i.e Shakira and Christina Augerlia and they look great but they are a good 10 - 14 lbs heavier than me, well this is my motivation, but the scales still havnt budged, I am cramin in 1,700 cals a day, this might not see a lot but it feels like I am forever eatin! I set myself a goal 8 weeks ago to be atleast 7 stone ( 100lbs I think) by xmas, well I have 4 weeks left and I am still the same, I know I can do it, but its so hard!

Are you tryin to gain weight EmLittrel?

Do you have the same hang ups about your body? Is it just us that can see it? And I get shouted at if I accidentaly say something like, 'oh god my stomach looks huge today' I guess to other people we are bein ridiculous, but I know I am not seein things. I dont think I have an ED, I just think I have lost myself somewhere.

I have been watching my weight for many years since as a little girl I was tall and big for my age.I got married at 19 and got pregnant at 21.My OBGYN at the time told all his patients that they will not gain anymore then 25 lbs. I didn't.I like I said wanted control of my weight but when we moved to this state I started loosing weight without trying that really scared me and like bamalina I found it very hard to put the weight back on.I found out much to my surprise that it was easier all these years to loose weight then to gain weight. For several months I ate jar after Jar of peanut butter and real meals and no weight gain in between this I had a lot of dental work so that was also making me loose weight so I added puddings. Finally the weight just started adding up so I am know 5 ft 4 and 115 lbs. I am now not eating anymore peanut butter or puddings just staying on a 1800 calorie diet and I am maintaining my weight. I still fear weight gain but I do know what the best and healthy weight for me is now finally.

Hi Lorriem,

That is really encouraging for me to hear, so you finally gained some weight? At the moment I am on about 1,400 cals a day and it feels like I have eaten loads, so I know I need to up my intake of calories, sometimes with kids there doesnt seem enough hours in the day does there?
But I am soo determined this time, I am gonna stick at it, even if its a pound a week I put on, I just wanna get up to 100lbs. Also as you can imagine I no longer have any 'womanly assets' which I used to, so I hopin that with gainin weight I will hopefully gain my breasts back, is this possible do you think?

bamalina I do not see why not if you had busts before even at my normal weight I was always small busted. To me 1400 calories is to little calories to gain weght. Try the peanut butter it is good for you and has loads of calories in it. I ate it by the spoon full.
