My dad had a stroke 2 weeks ago. It was a massive shock to everyone, totally unexpected. Hes only 56 and i like most people ive spoken with, had always assumed that a stroke was something that only happened to very old people.

He was initially paralised down the right side of his body. He has made some small improvements since it first happend which we are really hopeful about. But were finding it hard becuase noone is able to really tell us anything at the moment regarding his recovery. I understand that its still early days and that the healing process can take months but it would be nice to get some kind of advice. Hes had some slight movement in his toes and fingers which we are really pleased about and very hopeful that this could mean he will regain the use of his leg and arm. The movement and sensations seem to come and go. sometimes he can feel you touching his leg and other times he feels nothing. Does anyone know if the feelings can gradually come on and then go off again? Im not sure if its down to tiredness or if it is loss of feelings.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
